I went out and bought some 2X4X8’s and ripped them in half and pointed one end. I then drove them into the ground around my raised beds. I made a door. Then I covered the whole thing with the cheap (almost invisible) deer mesh. You can buy it from Lowe’s and probably Home Depot. It comes in a roll seven feet high and one hundred feet long. I just used a stapler to secure it to the 2X2’s. It holds up pretty good as long as you don’t forget and leave the door open at the end of the season - get one deer inside and they will find a way out (without using your door).

You can fool around with deer repellents. However; they require you to consistently reapply. Some wash off with every good rain. When you forget; you could loose all your hard work overnight.

One thing I always wished that I had tried was an electric fence. But; I don’t know how that works out in the long haul and how many time people get zapped because they forget?

With a next-door neighbor; we share a grove of lilac’s. It was probably all from an old homestead that burned down many years ago. The grove is about 100 feet X 200 feet. When it goes into bloom; it is very fragrant. Because of our elevation; it usually blooms a little late and we have been pretty dry this year. We do expect it to bloom shortly.

I enjoy planting a vegetable garden myself. Summer squash, tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers.

Did well with those last year.

I still have problems with legalization. Especially; how do we keep it off our roads and out of the workplace? The more that it is accepted and used; the more that will be used intentionally or unintentionally on our roads. I would just like to see any meaningful dialog between the users and our government. So far; all I have heard is disagreement on the amount of THC that could be considered safe to drive and the testing methods to determine if somebody is under the influence.

I have a hard enough time with cell phone drivers that sit at green stoplights. I am not crazy about being stuck behind paranoid drivers that break for a sugar fix!
