I'm about to invest in some audiophile headphones but I'd really like to sample a few I have in mind first. I'm new to the area and I was wondering if anyone knows of places that will have a better selection than a place like Best Buy, for example. I live in Scranton but I'm willing to travel up to a half hour. Any suggestions or hunches will be much appreciated.

BOSE Outlet store at the Crossings Outlets in Tannersville...

1000 Route 611, Tannersville, PA 18372

Exit 299 on Rt. 80East if coming from the north...make a right at the end of the ramp and follow to 1st light...left at light and your there...lot's of good places to eat nearby...don't eat at the Crossings...it sucks...there's a sports bar up the road from the outlet called Barley Creek that's good...just ask security about it they'll know where it is....also you check the online reviews of headphones at crutchfield.com they have a large selection also and the site also has an outlet section...

How am I supposed to know what I want if I don't know what they sound like? CNET, Head-fi, and Headroom only tell half the story.

Oh that should be a good place to check out, they'll probably only have Bose stuff though right?

I just went here. They had a decent selection in the $100 range but nothing really that I've been considering. I tried the Beyerdynamic DT770s which were alright, but not exactly what I'm looking for. They were about on par with my Audio Technica ATH-A55's which I loved before they broke, but I really want some open or semi-open back headphones like DT880's, AKG Q701's, or Sennheiser HD600. Thanks for the pointer though they had some other great stuff to look at there.

I might just stop at B&H or something like that in NYC when I go there for Easter but if anyone else knows a place in the area that stocks a lot of headphones I'd appreciate any info.

their cartridges have been awesome for decades now and the reviews on their headphone line just as good.
