Hi,

I recently moved to PA and currently have comcast. I am not to happy with it and I am looking for a new Internet Service provider but I am having trouble finding one. Verizon isnt available in our area, that is what we were going to go with. I live in Plains, still learning the area so not to sure about whats around, I live off of school street right by the tracks. I cant seem to find anything else in the area. If anyone knows of any ISP that are good. I dont care about tv or phone I just neeed a good internet provider.

Thank you for the help.

Comcast or whoever the cable provider is in your area is usually the best option. If you're looking for something faster than Comcast that is not going to happen.

Other than the outrageous costs I have very little to complain about Comcast.

Who is your neighborhood land line phone provider? They will be the next likely option.

Frontier Communications services a lot of the smaller areas that Verizon and the other big carriers stay away from...so you may want to check with them...

I live in Wilkes-Barre only a few miles south of Plains and get Service Electric so I'm guessing it is available to you as well. It is very reliable and super fast. The actual provider is PTD PenTeleData but you have to get it through Service Electric Cable.

If you have Comcast, then Service Electric won't be available. Each town only has one cable company available, the cable companies pay the municipalities franchise fees (which they charge the customers) for what is basically a cable monopoly on the town. My Comcast internet has been good, no problems at all, it is expensive, but not too bad if you get it in a bundle with TV and home phone service. My only complaint with Comcast is their TV, the channel lineup isn't bad, but their cable boxes are garbage...I must be on at least the 5th box by now.

I use Blue Ridge (local pocono company) and they are ok... a bit costly though.
