Red face Shopping?

Besides the malls, are there any boutique-style stores in WB or Scranton that sell higher-end brands? Is Wyoming Mall the only shopping mall in WB?

Unfortunately there are no Nordstroms or Fortunoffs here But the shoppes at Montage give a nice blend of stores. Not sure about directly in WB, I'm sure someone does though!

I imagine that, many in that area go to Dickson City for shopping.
They have the Viewmont Mall there with some of the larger store names.
They also have a Pier One up that way, Gander Mt, Starbucks, Chucky Cheese,
Dicks Sporting Goods,Raymour and Flannigan........I think that Macy's, Sears, Bonton,
Boscoves are in that mall if I am not mistaken. Lots of smaller stores in that Mall also.
Nothing in the line of Fortunoffs or Nordstroms thats for sure.
Just the everyday type of stores, for most peoples needs.
For the above stores I'd go to the Short Hills Mall in New Jersey, or Bridgewater Mall in New Jersey thereabouts anyway.

There are a few boutiques in downtown Scranton, the ones I know of are in the 400 of Spruce St. Designer sunglasses, boots, purses, clothing, etc. One is even a luxury boutique for dogs. There may be more, but I don't buy those sorts of things. Oh, also Lavish on the corner of Adams and Linden. They sell bath products. The Shoppes at Montage are only slightly upscale, but at least there are a few different brands. If I spot any others on lunch today I'll post some more.

Where is the Viewmont mall? Looking to see what malls are in the Scranton area and are they safe? I would be possibly traveling alone with my 2 little ones.

Scranton is amongst the safest medium-sized cities in the nation; you don't need to worry about being mugged or anything.

The Viewmont Mall is in Dickson City, a suburb of Scranton. To get to the mall you'd take I-84 West from Pike County to I-81 North to Exit 191A (If I'm not mistaken), and then follow Route 6 perhaps 1/2 mile to the mall on your right-hand side. The Viewmont Mall is anchored by Macy's, JCPenney, and Sears and is home to stores like Express, Express Men, Bath & Body Works, Electronics Boutique, Old Navy, Aeropostale, Pacific Sunwear, FYE, and many more. Restaurants inside the mall include Applebee's, Johnny Rocket's, Subway, and a few others. The roads surrounding the mall will take you to just about every chain and big-box store imaginable, including Lowe's, Home Depot, Wegman's, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Pier 1 Imports, Raymour & Flanigan, Gander Mountain, Best Buy, Staples, Borders, Target, and dozens of others. Every chain restaurant you could think of is also here, including TGI Friday's, Red Lobster, Perkins, Charlie Brown's Steakhouse, Olive Garden, etc. The trade-off to all of this convenience of "one-stop shopping" is that traffic can be heinous at times, especially on Route 6 and Viewmont Drive.

The Mall at Steamtown is located in Downtown Scranton. From Pike County take I-84 West to I-81 South to Exit 185 (Central Scranton Expressway). Follow the expressway into downtown and then make a left at the light onto Jefferson Avenue. Follow the road around the bend to the right and then make a left at your second light onto South Washington Avenue. The mall's parking garage will be immediately on your right-hand side. This mall is a two-story urban mall connected to the Steamtown National Historic Site and Electric City Trolley Museum via a catwalk over the historic railyards (a must-see if you have kids that like trains). The mall is anchored by Boscov's, Steve & Barry's, and The Bon-Ton, and it is home to many metrosexual stores like Abercrombie, Abercrombie & Fitch, Hollister, Eddie Bauer, Aeropostale, American Eagle, etc. The surrounding downtown area is home to a lot of specialty boutiques, ethnic restaurants, art galleries, etc.---downtown has been bouncing back to life left and right as of late with new business growth. Some businesses that come to mind near the mall include Poochie (gourmet dog bakery), Lavish (skin care products), Outrageous (gifts), Northern Lights (espresso bar), Starbucks (including one inside the mall), New Laundry (womens' apparel), Runway (womens' apparel), Silver on Spruce (jewelry), and the Toy Globe (toys), amongst many others. A used bookstore is nearly ready to open in the second floor of the Casey Laundry Building (above Marquis Art & Frame and Outrageous). Some nearby restaurants include Thai Rak Thai (Thai), Brixx, Osaka (Japanese), Martini, Sambuca, Blues Street (Blues), and many others.

I have to leave the home for a few minutes to give someone a ride, but I'll post more shopping options in the metroplex when I return.

The Shoppes at Montage is a newer lifestyle center located on Moosic's Montage Mountain, just south of the Scranton city limits. To get here from Pike County, you'd want to take I-84 West to I-81 South to the Montage Mountain Road exit (I believe it's #182). This complex is home to retailers such as Guitar Center, Christmas Tree Shop, New York & Company, Talbot's, Aeropostale, Eddie Bauer, American Eagle, J. Jill, DSW Shoes, Hot Topic, GameStop, and many others. There are also restaurants in and around the complex that include Longhorn Steakhouse, Kildare's Irish Pub, Panera Bread, Starbuck's, Panchero's, and a few others. Across the street is the Cinemark Movie Theater and restaurants that include Johny Rocket's, Ruby Tuesday, and Trattoria Bella (with more on the way soon). A new Target and Lowe's Home Improvement are also planned nearby.

The Wyoming Valley Mall is located just outside of Wilkes-Barre. To get here from PIke County, you'd want to take I-84 West to I-81 South to Exit 168 (Highland Park Boulevard). At the end of the ramp, make a right onto Highland Park Boulevard (you'll pass the Wachovia Arena). At the next light go straight across into the mall parking lot. This mall is anchored by JCPenney, Macy's, Sears, and The Bon-Ton and is home to stores such as Borders, Hot Topic, Electronics Boutique, GAP, Lane Bryant, Express, Radio Shack, FYE, The Disney Store, and many others. Surrounding the mall are all sorts of chain retailers, including Lowe's, Home Depot, Best Buy, Pier 1 Imports, Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Staples, TJ Maxx, Target, Wal-Mart Supercenter, Babies R Us, Toys R Us, Dress Barn, Circuit City, PetSmart, Petco, Wegman's, Catherine's, Dick's Sporting Goods, Sam's Club, Office Depot, Michael's Arts & Crafts, Old Navy, and just about any other chain retailer you could envision. Nearby are restaurants including Ground Round, Olive Garden, Outback Steakhouse, Starbuck's, Bennigan's, TGI Friday's, Lone Star Steakhouse, Friendly's, Perkins, UNO Chicago Grill, Cracker Barrel, Bob Evans, Boston's, Logan's Roadhouse, La Tolteca, Grotto Pizza, Chili's, and many others. As with Dickson City, traffic here can be horrendous at times.
