Default 2628 Route 115 Effort, PA 18330, Does anyone know this history/ past use of this building?

Does anyone out there remember what this establishment originally was, or was in the distant past. I'm curious. For some reason, I am very drawn to it, and now that it is for sale, I am interested in finding out more about it and potentially looking into purchasing it.

TIA!

Municipal records in downtown Stroudsburg should have the paperwork regarding this property...or you can just call the agent representing it for sale and ask them...they'll know...

Architecturally it is an Italianate Victorian and a very nice one at that.

I looked it up and it was previously a bed and breakfast, a hotel and a rooming house. The price tag of under 150 seems good to me.

You say you find yourself attracted to it? In what way? Are you interested in living in it as a residence or using it as a bed and breakfast?

The part that might disturb me is that it was once a rooming house and it could have some....hmmm..how can I say this..residual energy. I get that feeling when looking at it anyway.

My dad was here when I opened up your post, which is a good thing, because he recognized the building right away. He works for DCNR and has spent much time up the road from there sitting in the fire tower during fire season up at the Dixon Miller area near Pocono Raceway.

Anyhow, dad said that the building is called the Effort Village Inn, and it is widely rumored to be haunted (good call sheena!). I poked around a little bit online and then *voila* I stumbled onto this link and the hair on the back of my neck stood up! GHOSTS PHOTO GALLERY

it has 2 faces in 2 separate windows--the male in the colored glass window looks quite hostile

I knew it! I'm good! I'm good! I'm good!!

On a more sober note I feel violence and substance abuse from that place. I would not live there for 50 thousand.

karen this is scary stuff. Annie and I both saw the figures. I was hesitant at first to sat this because the is not the "Unexplained Mysteries and Paranormal" sub forum and I'm not a fan of being called crazy.

But that is one bad a$$ house.

My parents own a summer house up the road from there for the last 20 years. That place has held nearly everything. I don't think the interior will be in very good shape, but I could be wrong.

And that too. It really looks like it needs work.

i live very close to this house and pass it almost every day. It was just a barber salon in the side of the house. They just had a big yard sale there last weekend. Odd people there that seem to live in it. Michael Parrish murder of his girlfriend and baby was about 200 yards from it in the blue house on 115
Please buy it and make it nice again. That part of 115 needs some sprucing up.
