As an avid distance runner who wishes to run in the Steamtown Marathon next year, it pained me to miss this past weekend's marathon due to social commitments out-of-town. Congratulations to all of those who participated in today's 26.2-mile-long event! I thought it would be neat to assemble this local list for everyone to easily pinpoint people from their own hometowns to congratulate at the local grocery store the next time you see one another! I was thrilled to see so many apparent family participants in the list above---husband/wife, father/daughter, brothers, etc. I also made special note of one brave 77-year-old racer, along with WNEP's hunky Ryan Leckey, as well as inserting my own name there just to inspire me even more as I head out early tomorrow morning to continue my training for next year's marathon. Wish me luck, and I hope to see some more of YOU racing beside me in 2008 as well! The course is beautiful, starting in the colorful mountains of Susquehanna County and running downhill through the Mid-Valley of Lackawanna County into the trendy heart of Scranton. I was personally thrilled to see so many Scranton residents participating in this run---there were far more runners from this city than from any other city in the region combined. Hazleton only had one participant---wow! LOL!
