The woman at the meeting you speak of Paul is Joanne "council" Williams a well known and out spoken cheerleader for the mayor. She only comes to meetings when Judy and Sherri need a cheerleader, i.e. when the residents get on their cases good. Again you are speaking about someone and something that you know nothing about. I cannot beleive I am going to say this but I totally agree with CHS89 just stop it. No one really cares and really you have no idea what the pulse of the city is and for that matter where it is. Your oblivious to the under lying issues that are joined with all your litle projects here in the city. You just do not know. You are a kid, sorry but its the truth. Your life is going to change again and again and you will end up so far from where you thought you would be its not even funny. These long winded diatribes are getting old. You don't like the Scranton residents that speak out fine whatever. The U does suck, you don't know because you again do not have to deal with it. There is no shortage of doctors in this city that I am aware of, check the phone book. Its never about the project, its ALWAYS about the funding. What are going to do when Parente-Randolph has to down size and your low man on the pole? Ever wonder about that? Jobs are not always forever and if you plan your life around one you will end up disappointed.

Yes, I am going to "stop it." I have decided against moving to Scranton. You won't have to worry about my loud mouth being in your neighborhood at any point in the future.

And what exactly is a 21 year old college student from Pittston going to tell a 30, 40, 50 or 60 year old resident of Scranton about how to run their city? Who appointed you the arbiter of what ANY city needs to be sucessful? Who among us has come crying for help to anyone, you in particular?

Did it ever occur to you that 60,000 or more of us who live here "speak out" by carrying with our lives and our routines and leave the "fixing" to those who we elect or appoint to fix things?

I think Scranton is a great place to live. I've said it from my first post. What sort of proof would your Saviorness like? I have family that's been here since before the war. Dan has family, I imagine, thats' been here since the 19th century.

Jesus Christ, man. No one is obligated to stand on their porches, face south, and scream out to you how great we think our city is. If our lack of public cheerleading is insufficient for you, then you can go to hell for all I care. Or go to Wilkes Barre. Either one. I really don't care. Your act is wearing mighty thin here.

Excellent. I couldn't have said it better myself.

Well, I'm probably going to hell anyways for being gay, but I suppose in your eyes Wilkes-Barre would be a close second. As far as "act" is concerned, how is demanding that those who claim to "love" the city rise to its defense when it is being attacked so mercilessly an "act?" I can't think of one person who would want to live in a city full of sourpusses, including myself. I'm actually thinking I should just follow the leads of my family, heed the advice of my high school teachers, and follow my friends out of the region entirely. Go onto all of the other boards on this forum. Besides the NJ, FL, and CA boards you'll be hard-pressed to find more anti-city whining and b*tching than you find on this one. People around here just don't realize how good they have things, even if it comes back to bite them in the a$$ someday when they realize that THEY were the ones that drove away potential new residents and economic growth with all of their petty bickering.

It's fascinating how riled up people can get over someone being optimistic.

Paul stop it already, if you think those other forums are better than go over there, but drop the Scranton pomp pomps and cheerleading act and leave us to our own city and our own issues that we can change or not we do not want or need your help. Its our choice and you need to just drop and go try to fix Pittston or Wilkes-Barre. At this point its getting kind of sad and we are tiring of your childish rants. Grow up or shut up either way stop it.

We're getting toothaches, Mike.

Again, who are you to demand ANYTHING from us, Paul? We carry on with our lives the way we have for many many years before you, and it's not good enough for a college kid who doesn't live here? T.F.B., buddy.

And before it goes on further, YOU played the gay card in this thread, not me. Until your post, the word never once appeared in this thread. It was irrelevant, as far as I was concerned. I never once even remotely insinuated that you would or should go to hell because you happen to be gay.

You have once again demonstrated how little you know about anyone here.

My goodness. You guys are at it again.

Every time I think I might come here to learn something, all I learn is that there are a bunch of guys beating their hairy chests and acting like a bunch of locker room bullies.

Gentlemen agree to disagree and not take things so personally. No gentlemen here. What I see here is knuckle-dragging dialog that is useless and a waste of the readers' time.

Paul is entitled to his opinion. I may disagree with what he says. So what?!?! Too bad all your passion is so misdirected.

Now, feel free to continue with your little pick up game. Yes. This behavior is irritating to those reading. I don't think you could show your characters more clearly. I thought there may be some people truly trying to change political wrongs. Frankly, I would not trust any of you with the way you demean and taunt those with whom you disagree. Nothing productive here. Why should I expect that anything productive may be accomplished in the real world?
