How did you not become an Islander fan growing up on Long Island?

Mr.Krabs...ty I wasn't sure what the heck to call the pizza
My house is on Balsam in Medford, and can not wait till closing. I am strictly a Suffolk County girl. My parents were orginally from Mineola and I remember thinking I was going to a different plannet as a kid when we would drive in.
Funny my dad use to get the white castle crave back in the day and the closest one back then was in Massapequa.
Thanks for the stroll down memory lane all!

I still miss Medford every once in awhile. It prob. has changed lots since I've been there. I remember Rt.112 and Horseblock Rd. being hectic back then, I can imagine what they're like now. Is that multiplex movie theatre still there, on the service road of the expressway? I used to go that White Castle a lot in Massapequa, but I thought there was one in Centereach near the Smith Haven Mall, unless they shut that one down.

I was an Islander fan growing up, but when I moved to PA and started visiting the city often, I became a Ranger fan.

Yes, white castle is in Centereach but when I was a kid it was Massapequa or nothing.
RT.112 is now a nightmare and horseblock road is still a mess with more congestion and box stores up and down it until you hit Farmingville.
The multiplex in Medford shut down a few years ago, and a new hugh new one with stadium seating was built, I think it is considered to be in Holtsville.
A hotel and a few resturants are in the same area.
I have to say I really don't miss anything except Chubbs Meats on Rt. 112...they have great cuts and premade dinners to die for! LOl

NYRangers....the German Deli I went to was back in the early 80's. I think 1982 would be about right. Right on Merrick Rd. in Seaford, same side of Merrick as Pathmark, about 1/4 mile closer to the city. Could it be the same one?
I do miss the deli's and the bakeries. But when I went to the Deli for lunch, you could get soup, a sandwich and a bag of chips and a soda for about $6.00. Best of all...I could eat all that and still stay skinny!
I do miss the great Italian Bakery that was in Lindenhurst, can't remember the name....

I can't remember the name of the Italian one, but the German one is called Black Forest on that's on Wellwood Ave. north of the train tracks. I remember the Italian bakery sold real Italian ice. I know what you mean, you can't find real good bakeries and deli's up here like down there.
That deli you speak of might be the same one, but my grandfather sold it by then and already moved to West Babylon.

I remember going shopping with my Mom at the ShopRite in Farmingville. Is that still there? I remember the stretch of road between Rt112. and ShopRite, I think that's North Ocean Ave., to be all woods. Like you said, it's not that way now.

I think the area knows a thing or two about making good pizza as opposed to Old Forge, PA.

Basilico's Pizza and Italian Restaurant ---- Is REALLY taking over the
Firegrill at the Inn at Nichols Village in Clarks Summit on January 15 !!!!!!
I feel badly, I liked the Firegrill !!
