Unfortunately yes. This area is stagnant unless you are interested in hunting and fishing. There are very few jobs , high crime and high taxes.

I grew up in Montoursville, the child of parents who moved there from the Lehigh Valley area (Jim Thorpe). We were openly accepted and loved the area. My mom is still there and one of my sisters lives in Loyalsock Township. I take great offense at someone generalizing about Lycoming County as being a terrible place and telling people not to move there. If our chosen career paths hadn't taken us to the Selinsgrove area my husband and I would still be in the Montoursville school district area. Lycoming County is diverse, from the multicultural city of Williamsport to the small-town America of Muncy and Montoursville, and even to the "backwoods mentality" of some of the more remote areas. It's beautiful, there are jobs to be had, and for the most part it's a great place to live and raise a family. If someone experiences it differently, I feel badly, but I don't feel the entire county needs to be painted with a "never move here" brush.

I have no idea where the area is but why the high crime and my guess is the taxes are high because there is no industy to absorb the bulk.

I haven't researched the stats, but if Williamsport is showing high crime it's probably because of the influx of people from the big cities (Philadelphia) to halfway houses and the resultant crime from that population.

Stumbled upon this thread. I'm curious...how's the town when the LLWS comes around? How's the media, traffic, the kids, etc?????? Just curious. Peace.

Williamsport itself isn't affected too much by the LLWS. But stay off Route 15 in South Williamsport! Traffic is horrendous!

This is a polite, diplomatic forum. Not a mud-wrestling contest!
Nevermovehere, I am not surprised that you were unhappy in Lycoming County and Williamsport. With your unfriendly, snobbish, rude attitude, I doubt that you would be happy anywhere.
People living in Williamsport and the surrounding area are no different from the "metro" place you prefer to call home. The only difference is that they are quick to say "Hello" to anyone with a smile on their face. Perhaps you were lacking that.
Having grown up in Williamsport and subsequently living all around the globe, primarily in large metropolitan areas, I would trade them all for the opportunity to live in Williamsport again.
There are actually many healthy, well-educated, and considerate people in Lycoming County. If you judge a person by their looks, income, and unpretentious manner of speech, then I feel quite sorry for you. You are missing some wonderful people. But, I doubt they will be missing you.

Sorry, Yac. I didn't realize this person was a "troll." I thought they were just spewing venom about where they lived (Lord knows we have tons of THOSE types in Scranton as well).
