Probably Monroe County. Stroudsburg area, i know a ton of people that commute to NYC either by bus or by their own car. You hop right on Interstate 80 and it takes you right to the GWB. You can make it in 60 minutes, but thats going pretty fast. Expect atleast a 90 minute commute. I've done it in anywhere from 60 minutes to 3-4 hours. All depends on traffic and what time you are going in.
Yes i believe the area is still nice. Much different then when i grew up here, but nice no the less.

You can also go to the milford/matamoras area and take the train down. My husband has to go that route about once a week and said the ride isnt too bad

LOL, I thought the ride was horrible from PJ to Hoboken especially in the evening. I was on the train for 2 hours and 20 minutes. Forget about commuting.....I couldn't wait to get home to see my little on. Pocono, thank god your husband only has to do it once a week.

My husband is a 60 min commuter by car. At first we were going to move closer but we've decided to stay where we are and let him commute. We didnt want to give up the peaceful living, lake, etc just for a little longer drive!

Hi! I'm new to the site, too, but not the Pocono's. I was born n' bred here. Most people who are commutors live in the Monroe County area. If you're looking for a kind of city feel, be closer to the Stroudburgs. If you are looking for a more country setting, you may prefer something like Pocono Lake. Townships like Chestnuthill have high property taxes while townships like Ross are much lower. A good resource for you is poconorelocationguide.com. Ist time buyer? Be careful! I know a great real estate lawyer!
