I think people are making too big a deal about this whole "Office" weekend. The show is all right, but I think it's crazy that people from all over would want to come here to Scranton. There's nothing really that great to see. And the show is filmed in California, so all they use from here are exterior shots. It's just my opinion, I couldn't care less.

I think this is a pretty big deal for a city our size. True, the show is filmed in California, as most shows are, but they do a great job incorporating actual things from Scranton....restaurants, menus, coffee mugs, Red Barons bobbleheads, Froggy 101 stickers, bars, landmarks like the Coal Mine tour and Lake Scranton and Lake Wallenpaupack. Plus, there are actual shots of Scranton during the opening theme. And they do this without the typical make-fun-of-Scranton like TV shows usually do to our city. I like the show, but I'm not going to this convention....the price tag is too steep for me....I have better things to do with $25-$100. But I think it could be a good thing for the city as far as bringing in money to local businesses and helping our image to out-of-towners.
It should be a good thing, as long as idiots don't turn it into anything resembling the St. Patrick's Day drunkfest, er, I mean Parade. but I'm sure the bars downtown are doing their best to turn it into a drinking event.

Now, now sugah - spread some joy We'uns love to see the places we grew up with and point them out to other people who are under the impression that "Scranton" is fictional. I now use "The Office" instead of "Where Edith Bunker used to visit" when describing where I'm from, doncha know
