The last "rumor" I heard was that once all the leases expire on the businesses in the "Ames" plaza, a Walmart is supposed to be building there. Not sure how valid that is or how long it would be, but I have also heard that the Rite Aid is moving to a new building at Hamlin Corners in the near future.

As far as the Hamlin Shopping Center, it is now owned by a company in California! They have a sign right outside by the entrance with leases available. The Walmart remor has been around for many years, even when Ames was still around.

Those certainly would be big dreams.
The population in that area is just barely large enough, in my opinion, to support a Wal-Mart, but I don't know about all of these other restaurant chains. I know Hamlin has a KFC, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Subway, Shelly's, John's, and a few other eateries, but I feel that adding more chains would only start to oversaturate the market. That area is growing steadily though, so you never know.

Well, I was surprised at how small the store is, and while their stuff seemed a little pricey, they did have a lot of sales going on. I think it will do ok... it is nice to have something close by if you need something in a pinch. I hate going up to Dickson City.... I avoid it like the plague...

The population in that area is just barely large enough, in my opinion, to support a Wal-Mart, but I don't know about all of these other restaurant chains. I know Hamlin has a KFC, Taco Bell, McDonald's, Subway, Shelly's, John's, and a few other eateries, but I feel that adding more chains would only start to oversaturate the market. That area is growing steadily though, so you never know.
