I say 1,500 but there may be something less, or a bit more.....but, for just a short term car you should not spend a hefty amount. Gas right now is almost $4.00 per gal. We are all so unhappy about that. It was not so long ago, we complained about 1.50 per gal. It was running in the high 2.80's per gal. Now.............crazy..............its going out of control.
I have found with the kids that most did not want to rent unless they were 25.
I did get an Enterprise to rent to them in Florida as long as they were a certain age, of which I am not remembering (LOL)....it was a bit younger. Renting is way too expensive for you anyhow. You might not want to do that. It is a few hundred a week! For that you can buy something ,and sell it before you go home to recoop your money.
My thinking for you is to use the bus and even a taxi until you meet the other workers there. Many, many of them will probably offer to take you down the hill.
Pretty far, yeah..........and pretty cold too.
Your favorite Mall if you can get there would be the Lehigh Mall and the Rockaway Mall.
The later being in New Jersey. But, both are about an hour away from your location.
Lehigh Mall at Christmas time is just wonderful. Music and decorations..........
You'd like it.
My husband is good at knowing if a car is good or bad news, if you need help in the soundness of a car. You HAVE to have decent tires for the mountain, that is a big must......Mother Summering.......LOL
PS wonder if Ise got the pictures of the girls I sent her?
Our pups are on the dog thread, under "family dogs, and dog stories".........

My God Summering, so expensive the gas!! Here in Brazil is expensive too...
So, I don't think buying a car is a good ideia for us! Cause we need to spend money with another things...housing, food, bus, trips, malls...!
I'm sure we'll find a way to go down the hill! And to go to other cities we can go by bus! No problems!!
And I'll visit this malls of course! LOL! On our days off, we take a bus and can go to many places around there!!
Ise, I wanna see the pictures! Send to me!

Look on the bus map of the Pony, your area is the green area.
Where is says State Park I think is written there.
I'm sure if you started walking, one of your fellow
workers would drive you down.........
Summerings off to help with Halloween.........emmmm....
what should I be today.........?
A Clown, a Witch, Cinderella, or just a Candy helper

She is super-nice and would love to talk to you! There are actually several places to work in food service during the main season. There is the main cafeteria, plus Cameltop (you have to ride the lifts to work up there - BRRRR), and then smaller cafeterias like SunBowl. There is also a bar (but I never go in there 'cause I always have one or more of my kids with me). My mother-in-law has worked in all of these places.
She is Ukrainian but lived in Brazil as a child. She does talk about it but I'm not sure where she actually lived there. I believe she still speaks some Portuguese though.
I hope you can arrange some transportation. I would ordinarily suggest getting some bicycles, but the hills up to Camelback would be KILLER. Once you get to the bus, you could go lots of places, but you are definitely going to do some walking. You'll be in great shape

Hey Karen!
Hope I meet her there!! I'll try to find her!
I thought there was just one restaurant. Good to know that they have more than one! But I'll find out just when I arrive there!!
How is there in winter? Lot of people?
Transportation is making me a little worried... I've thought about bikes too, but I think it won't be easier! Is Village at Camelback at the top of the hill? My worries are if we need to buy something at the grocery at night or eat something at a restaurant or just take a walk and have to go down all the hill!
I chose Camelback because of location too...Next to NY, Philadelphia, places I wanna go! But our daily needs won't be easy!!
But walking is good too! Cause almost everyone who goes to USA get some extra weight!! LOL!

Yes, I gave it a thought of a bike too........but the snow covered roads won't be good with a bike. You'd go down quite fast...Zooooooommmmmmm.
But, up it.......quite the hike.
Don't forget to copy the Martz/Trailways bus information. You will have about a 2 hour or less ride into NYC and you will be taken to the Port of Authority. This is just beyond the tunnel. It is the location that you would take other trips from.
You could ( if one had the time) take a greyhound bus from there, to Washington DC. This would take you approx. 5 hours or there abouts. You can get a bus to almost anywhere from there.........Boston too.
But, for Philly.........Just use Martz right out of the Pocono area. That may be only at the Stroudsburg location ( Delaware Water Gap......and then directly to Philly)
You will see at the Port of Authority that the buses come in below level and you take the escalator up to the main floor.
Make sure when you return that you ask the bus driver, what location he is going to. There are quite a few lines to the Poconos now.
Summering was some sort of character, with all color hair and a hat, thats about it..........a candy giver........and there is a ton of kids!!!
The weather is getting chilly at night in the 30's.........and not too bad today high 60's.........
Listen to Karen_s about the cold ............You can get frostbitten very easily.
The warmest hat you can find will be needed.
People from all over go there. Locals, out of state people, other countries.......
You will find a nice mixture.
I love to watch the snowboarders.
My kids they did the tubes..........and it sailed into the hay. It was pretty fast and quite the ride.
I still hope to get up that way and see the distances for you.
Soon, I hope ............but, tomorrow I have to go to upstate NYork.
Maybe by sometime next week.
Be good...........Summering MOM.

I've alreay copy all Martz bus information! And I found Greyond too!! Once we're in a bus, we can go anywhere, right?
How far is Stroudsburg from Tannersville? You said it is 8, 10 miles...but with bus is really fast, no? To go to WalMart and other places...
We're gonna arrive in JFK Airport in NY, and in our Job Offer says we need to get a train or bus and go to Newark Station, NJ. There we need to get another bus to Bus Station in Mount Pocono, and then a taxi to Camelback! A lot of things, ham? Is the easier way?

Hum, about the horse riding u told me about, is the distance walkable? Do they work in the winter too? And... I just found in the internet, do you know "Pocono Country Carriages Inc"? They have sleigh-horses! It seems great! jingle bell, jingle bell... ...in one-horse-open-sleigh!
Well, I guess i'll wait till you come back to answer! Enjoy yourself and the kids!!! I wish I could see you! Coloured hair? lol
