I couldn't find the thread! what's exactly is it the name?
And mom, I have a(nother) question!
Do you know if credit cards are well received in the poconos? Do you think VISA or MASTERCARD will be the better one for me to have? My father is thinking about making a credit card in my name as a dependent...

It is titled SNOW!!!!!!!!!!! on page 3 of all the NE threads.
From I LOVE PA I think........Who is always asking how you both are
I would say Visa is the most used here, second would be Master Card, and then after that American Express......lastly maybe Discover Card.
So personally, I'd do the Visa.
Well received almost anywhere. Just a few places do not take cards now.
It was not the same even a few years back in the Poconos. But, we are getting more hip now ....So 99% of your stores will take Visa and also, the restaurants, Pizza places..........
Ok there...........good Dad you have........can I borrow him

Snow machines are working at Camelback..........Snow is going to pile up on the slopes.
We had a dusting last night, on the grounds and roofs.
Now if Santa just sees fit to make Ise's dream come true, of a snowy EVE........that would be great.
Not too much, or company won't get here......OK!
( PS I hope you got the local numbers I sent you, taxi's, Pizza, the Pony, Martz, and ..........keep it handy)

Hi Alex! Thanks for the warm welcome! Guess we'll meet there, I'll be lift!
Hey, tell me, is the Poconos really, really very cold? Do you think our winter clothes here in Brazil can protect us from cold until we buy clothes for snow? Or it's better to buy here at least one warm jacket made for snow?
How long have you been in the Poconos?

Ise, I have been living in the area for almost 8 years . If you compare the pocono winter with the coldest winter in Brazil, I would say pocono is really, really, really cold(average during the winter 32 F/ 0 graus celcius) and if it is a winter windy day it makes even worse for us, but as long as you are properly dressed you are going to be ok. Brazilian winter clothes will not protect you, specially if you will be working out side for hours. I would suggest you to buy most of your winter clothes here in the usa, but do not buy them at camellback's store because is usually more expensive then the other stores in the area. Ise, let me tell you this, despite the winter temperatures, the poconos is beatifull during the winter and will be a worthy experience.
Good luck!

Ise, if possible you may want to do some internet shopping for a warm jacket, gloves, and boots at least before you get here. If you won't have access to a car, you'll be very happy to have those items in case you get here during a cold snap and don't have an opportunity to shop. Alex is right; the ski shop will probably have very high prices.

Hi Ise............I was hoping Alex would get back to you on the winter clothes. So it is great he did. Also, thanks to greentown.........yes, perhaps that clothing store I Love Pa suggested. I imagine they might be on line also. Light and yet great for keeping the cold at bay.
We can be mostly 32 degrees here. The wind is difficult up on the mountain tops.
I know as my decorated sled took off in just the smaller gusts last night. Smashing the bulb decorations. LOL........It is fixable, so I am not too worried.
I hope Alex will be around to help all of you also. He is right, the ski store will cost you more then the outlets or looking for a good deal online.
How many days now??? Whhhoooeee, time is going fast!!

Yeah, it's really close now!!
Hum, I already have some places to buy, my USA Mom and I love PA suggested Thanks for the tip about buying in camnelback! I know I have to buy winter clothes there, but I was hoping I could NOT buy them here... Maybe buy them at the first or second day I get there... here is REALLY expensive...
But, I guess I will buy at least one very warm coat, otherwise if I arrive with bad weather just like Greentown said I may freeze before I'm able to buy something LOL
Greentown, do you think I could buy something using the internet before I arrive there?? I guess they won't be able to delivery, couse I'll be still here in Brazil... Maybe if I buy one day before I get the plane... but I don't have the complete adress of the house yet...
Alex, I guess you don't know... but I live in Curitiba, I bet the diference in temperature in the poconos and here was not very big in some of the past days... I'm wearing a coat and I feel cold right now and hey, we're almost in summer! LOL And here it sometimes even snows!! (very very very rare )... But you're right, here never gets below -2 or -3 ºC... But if in the poconos 32º F is the average... Try imagining the extremes...
Thanks you all for the answers!
