Live on a small lake north of Hawley and am looking to replace my old dock. When I look at my neighbors docks many have 6x6 pilings. I am looking to install these myself and I am wondering what most people in the area are doing. Jetting, driving, sledge. How deep are they going, how deep do I need to go.

Lake is small 50 acres or so with out a ton of movement. Any help would be available.

Have you considered a floating dock? You can buy cheap 55 galleon plastic barrels and build the dock to fit over them. Then you would only need a short mooring for the floating dock.

We made one dock that lasted a few years out of driving 2” galvanized pipe into the lake bottom and bolting treated wood to the pipe. Eventually the ice took a toll and we got rid of it.
