Northeastern Pennsylvania Photo Tour: PART FIVE
Well, the "ayes" have it! Three votes were submitted for more of the Back Mountain, so today I took a drive out a bit deeper into the region to the area along Upper Demunds Road, not far from Dallas High School. There's more of the same here as yesterday's thread; ornate homes, narrow country roads, shopping centers, and traffic. As always, please vote in the poll for another area!

I'd also like to apologize for the poor quality on some of the pictures. Today is a bright, sunshin-ey day, something which I haven't yet become accustomed to while snapping pictures! (It IS the Scranton area after all...LOL!)

I was also going to snap some photos of the new "Goodleigh Manor" subdivision currently under development on Upper Demunds Road, but there was a crew of about a dozen contractors hanging around and working on the community's entrance landscaping, so I thought it might have been inappropriate (and dangerous) for me to start snapping pictures of the entry from my vehicle while they stood there, thinking I was some sort of creep! LOL!

You are really showing a lot of the area that many of us didn't know to exist before.
What towns are shown in this thread for the purposes of checking real estate prices???
Thanks!

Hey there MrTudo. First of all, please let me thank you for being one of the few who actually even looks at these pictures anymore. I've noticed the number of views and replies to each successive photo thread plummeting lately to the point where I probably won't even bother taking all of the time, effort, and gasoline to shoot any more. It was worthwhile during the first two or three threads when people seemed interested, but now not even Bamboo is coming on here anymore; the City-Data fad seems to be dying out. That's a shame, considering I've grown more attached to this forum than I have to MySpace!
To answer your question. You should look for towns such as Shavertown, Dallas, Harvey's Lake, Lehman, and Trucksville.

Well Mr ScrantonWilkesBarre, I happen to like Pa. Always liked it. And your photos and tour has really touched a nerve of interest in me. Been in Fla off and on since 1979 ( originally from new germany , 30 miles from NYC ). Went and retired too soon in SE Asia back in 1999 and after getting my brains beat in financially, came back to the US and did I go back to Fla? Why, it was winter when I returned from the teaming tropical heat of SE Asia, and I AM of Polish decent so I moved to NE Pennsylvania! Make sense?
Yup, got up to the Hideout in late Nov 2002. Twas wonderful. Chilly. Cool., and all the leaves were gold colored. Wow wow hadn't seen anything like that in so many years. The realtor who got the rental from me called a couple weeks later and asked " Hows the food in your place?" I thought she was, er, "off"? Then I probed, why do you ask? She replied., well it looks like we're gonna get the big one starting this afternoon and you really should stock up in the event you can't get out for a few days.....as I noticed you don't even have snow tires.
So off I went to the nearby supermarket ( not very super I might add but the only game in town) and stocked up as much as I could. The snow started falling before I left and on the way back the road had that light dusting. So nice.
When it was all said and done I believe it was a 60 inch dusting
I REALLY wanted to rent a place up there starting in November. My Wife and I are thinking about buying a 2nd house up yonder and she has never had the pleasure of experiencing snow or even weather below 50 degrees. So I'd like to rent one ( with a garage which is a must! ) in a place no further than the general Lake Walenpaupack area, for 2-3 months ( long as I can get cable high speed internet installed ) and see is she still thinks she can handle it.
What say you?

Scranton - please don't stop with the posting of the pictures, I love them and like Tudo it touched a nerve of interest in me besides the fact that I am of German decent and the move to Dallas area fits quite well, as what I meant in the "demographics" of this area. The pictures are awesome!!

very nice area, I can't say I like what the "sprawl without growth" this entire area is known for has done for the surrounding cities, but it is a nice place to take a scenic drive through. There is something to be said for not having your house literally 10 feet from your neighbors, but I can deal with that for a house that costs about 1/10 what some of the pricy ones out in Dallas go for.
A nice photo tour, as always. Keep up the good work!
