looking for right area to buy vacation home in the poconos please help
WHats going on Molly this is my 1st time posting on this site I just had a few questions for you if you would be nice enough to respond. I am a guy in my mid 30's and me and a couple of my friends would like to buy a vacation home in the poconos area. We dont know the right neighborhoods to be looking im. We are all from NYC and are looking for a location near skiing and ATV accessible areas preferably on a lake but not a deal breaker. We are looking in the 150k-250k range. We also want to be close to some sort of nightlife if possible. I know their are a lot of new developments going up can you point us in the right direction where we can get the most for are $. Possibly even some nice foreclosure listings? Thank you so much looking forward to hearing from you. Jeff

Pocono Vacation Home
Hey Jeff,
You might want to take a look at Locust Lake Village. It is in Pocono Lake and quadding and snowmobiling is allowed. It is also very close to Bradys Lake State Gamelands and Lackawanna State Park for more trails. You are not going to get anything on the lake for 250k but you will have full access to the lakes etc... You can email me if you like and I can direct you to a site where you can search the Multiple Listing Service for yourself or sign up to get listing alerts delivered right to your email box based on the home information YOU input.

Locust Lake Villiage is good, as well as Arrowhead close by. Arrowhead has 2 lakes, and 3 pools!

I live part time in the Hideout, too. It might fit the bill for you. Lot's of recreation, plus about a 25 minute drive to Scranton where there is all the nightlife you could want.

Towmensing Trails is about 5 minutes from Big Bolder ski area, however night life in that area is almost non existent except for some local bars. You can get a nice house in there for 150-250 range. It has a huge lake, really nice. i think its 190 acre lake. It also has pools and a clubhouse with gaming, and bar and a restraunt. You about a 30 minute drive on I80 to stroudsburg which would probably be the closest nightlife you could find.

Hi Jeff - just saw your post and thought that maybe I could offer some direction. I'm located in the Pike County portion of NEPA - close to the NY and NJ border and about 30 to 40 minutes away from Scranton (one of the "night life" area's up here). Formally from NY and a transplant to the area I can say that NEPA is not noted for it's nightlife but for getting away from the city, staying in the price range you are specifying and the type of area you're looking for - Pike county is a good place to start - Hemlock Farms is located there and the community has a lot to offer.
