Looking to find some local public small ponds that I could take my oldest son too. Just looking for sunnies, bluegills and maybe the occasional bass for him to hook into. I know lots of people do not like to divulge their spots but we are strictly catch and release. Figure with the new dunklebergers opening its a good time to get him a solid ill set up to use during the last few weeks of summer. Not interested at all in a big brown fish n pay lake setting...that's tourist fishing. Just want to see if anyone has any other spots then what I'm seeing
Thanks

You might try Hidden Lake: https://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-...d=0CIMBEPwSMAs It has been a very long time since I fished down there - but it was a nice lake for the kids. Then, going a little farther north; perhaps try Snow Hill Lake: https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Snow+...ed=0CHoQtgMwCg I could be wrong? But I think Snow Hill is a State lake and Shawnee is federal.

Of course you can also try the Delaware - but (depending on the age of your son) that might be too risky.

You did not state how old your son was? But, since you mentioned sunfish; it sounds as if he is young? If he is; there are some small ponds that allow young fishermen. I just don't know when these events happen or if the ponds are open all the time? Dunkleburger's might be able to tell you. Here is a link to our State's fishing web site for kids under twelve: Summary of Pennsylvania Fishing Laws and Regulations - Children/Disabled Fishing Areas But, if he is older; you can click on the county guide on the left side and then zoom in on Monroe County. That will show you where there are trout streams - I did not see any lakes mentioned (but I just took a quick look).

Hope he catches some!

Great link
Found a small unnamed pond not far from me in the west end. Nothing posted that it is private and I have seen some people fishing there before
Thanks again

Did you find that on that link? I just want to warn not to assume. It is best to always ask the property owner first - just saying. I used to assume when I was young - but I was much faster and I was a distance runner in HS! If you do see fishermen; you could stop and ask (without a pole in your hand). Or, possibly, an neighbor could tell you more?

Our State also has a lake that is a good hike for fishermen. Deep Lake: Pocono Pines Topographic Map | Lat 41.0523°N Long -75.396°W Elevation 1,847 Feet | Zoom 15 S Size It was a four and a half mile walk to get to from the top of the Camelback road. I only went there one time as a teenager - I don't remember catching anything.
