NJ has Shop Rites who deliver, you order online!
I am so jealous that New Jersey has a Shop Rite that you can order from online.
You go online and place your order. If it comes to more then you wish, you can delete a few items you can live without. Then Done!
You pick up the order at the store and that is a ten dollar charge ( no tips allowed) Just swing by on your way home from work.
Now they have it so you can get the groceries delivered! This only being ten dollars additonal. This has time slots that get filled up fast however.
It needs to be done early, especially if there is a storm brewing.
I am wondering why our PA Shop Rite doesn't do this for us.
It would be so helpful for those New York commuters. It would be helpful for the elderly also.
I personally like to go to the store. But, there are times when this would be great. Mostly for the working person, others who can not get out.
Wondering why we don't have that for our Shop Rites here?
OR...........Will it be coming our way soon?

I believe that Gerrity's supermarkets deliver. And I know that Sam's Club has a program where you can fax your order in and they pull it and have it waiting for you.
Shop Rite, I believe, is a franchised store, and the Shop Rites in the Poconos have different owners from Shop Rites elsewhere.

It is that large one in Byram on 206. My daughter, having the new baby and plus working, getting the older one off to Kindergarden.....uses this service.
She loves it! Just goes on line and orders. Then on his way home from work her hubby can pick it up. Just for that ten dollar charge.
Delivery is the extra ten.........Which was booked full for deliveries during the storm. If you know a storm is coming, you'd be best to do it a few days ahead.
But, when you have sick kids at home or trying to juggle a lot of "HATS",( no pun intended ) then it is well worth it.
I wonder if that is the only Shop Rite doing it in North Jersey, or is it common in some places?
I thought it would be so nice to get that service in the Pa. area.

I bet thats right. I think I remember some independent owners in North Jersey. I wonder then in the franchise if they are given this option, and most pass it up.
I would love to be near a Sams Club. I love the one in Vestal, New York.
I want to get into the one in Dickson City, badly.
However, I don't like the small one on 248 in Easton, it is nothing like Vestals in the least. I can't bring myself to join that one. But, I am thinking of joining the Dickson City one, and then being able to use the large store in Myrtle Beach.

When my kids were babies, I would have been happy to have a drive-up window for things like milk, bread, etc. to avoid having to get everyone in and out of the car. Now that would have been a "convienient" mart!

Hi Summering, yes I believe 206 in Newton New Jersey....lol, PA is a little behind the times in that respect. However, with the sprawl....the idea may take off. I will have to try it sometime.

Daily Record News - No more trips down the aisles of supermarkets (broken link)
No, its the Byram one. My daughter has to drive down waterloo road to that store, and I know she would never go as far as the Newton store.
The Byram store is one of the newest grocery stores in that area. Well, not that old anyhow as some of the others.
I guess it is the same owner as the Newton and Netcong stores plus a few others.
I hope it comes this way, people just love it. No charge for how much you have either.
It is a great, upcoming idea.........
And when kids are home sick, how can it be beat?

I live in Morris Plains, NJ and the Shoprite down the road from me has a pick up service. I haven't used it yet because I too like to go to the store but my sister-in-law (who has kids) loves the service. She said that when she would go to the store, she would have to take their two boys (ages 3 and 1) and they would have a screaming contest there (who could scream the loudest) - fun, right? lol Anyway, she uses the service so she doesn't have to go through the embarassment of people looking at her scolding her kids... I hope it comes to PA soon - my mom and sister have been raving about the new shoprite in Daleville. I'm moving up there next year - maybe it'll be available then!!
