I think everyone is an asset to this forum. If I were pondering moving to a place that I have never been to before, I'd want HONEST opinions about it from locals. I'd want not only the long-winded pom-pom rants and photo tours of an idealistic college student looking to start his life here, but I'd also want to hear about the wage tax, political fragmentation, urban sprawl, and other pertinent issues that counterbalance the often too "utopian" image I portray. EVERYONE who posts here has a useful purpose. For folks who want to move to The Hideout, I LOVE PA is our gal. For folks looking to move to Union, Snyder, or Northumberland Counties, Dawne always comes to the rescue. For folks wanting to move to Monroe County, people like Summering, MollyMe, IzzyMare (who has been AWOL as of late ), and a few others chime in. For those wanting to relocate to Greater Pittston, I'm their tour guide. People like Chefkey, Karnak (another former favorite of mine who is now AWOL), and Ashley19 are experts about Wilkes-Barre, and people like WeLuvPA (who has also been AWOL recently), CHS89, ScrantonLuna, NYRangers2008, samvit, cjseliga, and myself are a wealth of knowledge about the Electric City. JimmyLane holds down the fort in Montrose; MemoriesBre (and the now-AWOL KBlasi) champion Tunkhannock.

Come to think of it, we have a lot of posters who have gone AWOL, and I think it would be appropriate that we all pray for them to be safe and sound, as we truly can't be sure as to whether they aren't here any more by their own volition or due to circumstances beyond their control. I WILL tell you though that I've heard from both PensyPat and KittensPurr recently, two of my favorites, and both are alive and well. It's also nice to see Rockyy back from her long hiatus, and I'll continue to pray that her health improves; she and I had the pleasure to meet once at Lowe's, even though I was having a rather busy and hectic day and didn't have as much time to chit-chat as I wish I did. Let's keep all of our City-Data AWOL members in our thoughts this Thanksgiving, especially WeLuvPA, who I'm very worried about as he has also been absent from city council meetings, which he just about never misses.

Hey SWB, I couldn't have said it better...

I found this forum just a few months ago, when I knew my family was moving westward from central PA. I searched a lot, and found great information from those posters you mentioned. I asked questions outright on this sub-forum, and got great responses!

I am now a resident of Lake Ariel, and I would like to think that one reason we chose that area was the great info I got here.

So I thank you all, for sharing your opinions, experiences, and advice so freely about our Commonwealth. I, for one, am better for it!

Cathy
(who is gettin' ready for a nap after a great dinner...ZZZZZ)

700 served, 700 happy I think so anyway haha. I think dinner will become a yearly tradition of Ham sandwiches because the bone in ham from Sysco is really yummy and I can't bear the sight of more Turkey and stuffing. My chef jacket was well seasoned today. The roasted acorn soup was a hit with the customers but a fellow coworker from Philly who tried it in the making yesterday was funny. I coaxed him in to trying it when he told me he had never tried it. The look on his face was priceless, when I had the finished product with the cream and butter in it I forced him to try it again. He still kinda grimaced and I laughed and told him I would get him a palette yet.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

I'm here but I have been very sick lately and have no computer right now. My laptop died and is under warranty repair. I'm at my mother in-law's house right now so I have access here. Honestly my body told me I needed a break after the election when it shut down and put my AS# in bed for the last two weeks with a serious respiratory infection. I have asthma and that never helps. Happy Thanksgiving to all and I appreciate the concern Paul. Just drop me a call if your worried. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.

I hope everyone had as nice a Thanksgiving as I did, and I'll add that I am thankful for new friends - on line and off, and especially thankful to have three great children.

Peace be to all

It's good to know you're alive and (almost) well. Come to think of it there has been a very nasty viral infection going throughout the valley lately. It started with everyone around me in class hacking up their lungs and sniffling, and surely enough I was infected too by the next day. My parents were hit next, and now it appears as if their co-workers are falling ill too. Somehow though my professors all have immune systems of steel; no matter how much all of their students get sick they never become infected. It sounds like you're sicker though than what most of the rest of us have, so just get your rest, drink plenty of orange juice and grape juice, and try not to get riled up over politics too much. There will be plenty of time for that next week when your laptop is reparied, and you're back at optimal health.
