Hi all

So, I live in Brooklyn, NY and work in NYC. Like the idea of having a small house in PA (3-4 bdrm), not tooo far away from NYC. Nothing crazy and yet, want the house to be decent hence, up to $220,000 budget possible.

Want to have a cozy place to use as a getaway from all the city life for the weekends. Would be nice if there was a big town or something nearby for hanging out, movies, some activities and such. Maybe a lake, or a ski slope, something.

If I ever decide to rent out my place for some period of time, also would be nice to have this house in an area where there is some demand for renting.

So my question is ....

1) Is this a good idea?
2) Where would be the best place to find homes for sale in Pocono? Trullia and Zillow don't show much variety.
3) I also noticed that prices dropped compared to 2007,. Is this a good time to buy?

any other info?? what to look out for, anything I should consider, etc, etc./
every time I am in pocono, I really like it there,. Lake Wallenpaupackis nice too.

any info?

thank you

You might want to take a look at this link: Buying a 2nd Home in NEPA - Security & Maintenance Concerns. It goes into some of the problems with maintaining a second home. My feeling is that most would want to buy in the HOA for protection - but then you have do the research to find the right one.
