Just a little more information from the American Medical Association.
Page 464 Second Column,Concise Medical..
Mercury
"A metallic element that is liquid at room temperature.Mercury was used widely in medications and as disinfectants for many years, but it's use has been greatly reduced because of concerns about toxic effects.
Mercury poisoning occurs when metallic mercury is absorbed through the skin or it's vapor taken in through the lungs.Acute poisoning causes vomiting, bloody diarrhea and severe abdominal cramps in addition to the inability to produce urine.
CHRONIC POISONING CAUSES LOOSE TEETH,loss of appetite, sores in the mouth, tremors, anemia, and irritability. If someone is suspected of having consumed or absorbed metallic mercury,a poison center should be contacted immediatlely."

Just tell me where they're at I will be glad to do my best to get there, you see part of the problem is that where I am it is an isolated area. There are a handfull of dentists around but they are very very old school and the ones I am considering are in NY and Wyomissing Pa.(Yet both are far)..those are the closest that I have found to be well recommended..Other than the one in Scranton spoke of on here this evening??
I so would appreciate the name of the dentist in MD.
Thank you!

To whatever moderator moved this link...
Gretchen was asking for a mercury free dentist in the Northeast Pa forum, the area where she lives. Getting a recommendation by moving her thread to the Health & wellness forum is now useless.

Gretchen,
First, the holistic dentist I know in NYC is Lewis Gross. I also just had another thought though. I know a holistic practitioner here in Honesdale. Her name is Betty DeMaye Caruth. Her site it minervaed.com. Her husband is a dentist. I don't know anything about him other than that. I would guess he is at least receptive to the idea of holistic dentistry since his wife is a very well respected and successful local practitioner. Let me know if you decide to see him, I'd be interested to know what you think.

I would agree, but it appears this thread has become more of a rant against mercury, which has nothing to do with NE PA. Gretchen didn't simply ask about a dentist, but has three pages of "data" about mercury. Obviously this is not NE PA specific and is in the wrong forum.

This thread turned from a local question into an anti mercury crusade. And this forum is not the place for crusades of any type.
