HAZELTON, Pa. - February 19, 2014 (WPVI) -- Dozens of people were arrested and more than 9,000 packets of drugs were seized in a major heroin sweep in Hazleton, Pa.
The Pennsylvania Attorney General's office announced the arrests on Wednesday as part of "Operation Rising Star."
Authorities say the Mobile Street Crimes Unit was brought in back in September to assist the Hazelton City Police Department with the rise in violent, drug-related crimes.
Attorney General Kathleen Kane says Hazleton had become a breeding ground for the distribution of heroin.
In five months' time, "Operation Rising Star," in conjunction with 16 local, state and federal agencies, identified numerous drug trafficking organizations. They say more than 100 people have been arrested and 9,060 packets of heroin seized.

They say the city is a safer place now, but we all know for every 1 they arrest, 10 are waiting to take their place.
How many of you think this is just a Hazleton problem? How many of you think Wilkes-Barre & Scranton will not see the same thing is a short time? How many think this is not spreading to the surrounding towns? How many still think this will attract major employers to the area to bring high paying jobs? How many of you are still in denial about the area going down the crapper? How many of you will tell the people who seek advice about the area this news item? And last but not least, how many of you still think I'm wrong about the area?

Okay I gotta ask: why do you care so much?

IIRC, you moved out of the area, right? So you don't live there anymore. Yet a quick check of your profile shows that at least five pages in, almost every single post is in the NEPA forum.

What exactly is your long-term troll goal here? To prove you are right about NEPA? You can't be right about something that is an opinion.

So what exactly happened to you in this area that made you so bitter?

Hazleton sucks. I don't think there's much to debate about that. As for the rest, it remains to be seen.

Welcome to America this epidemic is everywhere and no place is safe. Small towns and areas of less population often have bigger problems because people turn their heads to the problem and the police do not have the resources to fight the crime. Sadly this country will never stop the drug problem the drug money is needed or most police departments would have to close up shop. Corruption, $$$, politics and an epidemic of people rich and poor addicted to drugs. SAD!!!

Trips and Sarge are both right. It's a cycle with no end in sight.

But my point is that he's supposedly gone out of the area, so why does he still dwell on it?

Opinions are one thing. Actively trolling is quite another.
