I have lived in Scranton since June of 07, I have not witnessed nor be the victim of a crime, unless you consider my hubby's ex wife attacking me and some bs harassment non sense from the ex and a former neighbor. I feel safe in all parts of the city. I do not go near the projects in South Side nor hang out with people who live there. If you live a low risk life style you will be more than safe. Some folks around here talk a great deal of trash, but run when confronted. You will be fine here. Depressed maybe but safe.

I am actually considering maybe at least check over there, since I am more used to South Texas and Metro areas. But why depressed? Is it a similar effect to those who live in the state of Washington? I live here and I am depressed as well as random shootings can kill us any time. And I was hoping for Mexico to become good with time... if I had to run away legally of course into the US, I am considering Scranton as I've meet good people from there.

But not even they have told me why is it depressing. Maybe what is common for you guys, is some big deal for us. After all, we Mexicans love to go shopping to South Texas but ST people hate it! Question, is pizza from Grotto's any good?

You going to start Pizza War III...... There is literally hundreds of pizza shops in this area and it depends on your tastes. The Grotto has a round pie with thin crust. Personally I like it but I grew up eating Arnold's Pizza in Plymouth because he was a friend of the family. He started at the Grotto and his pizza was similar.

We have very few sunny days in winter. Hence why it can be depressing. With a light box it can be avoided.
