Hello:

So I was driving north of Mount Pocono on 611 recently and remembering car trips with family when I was a kid and remember there used to be a hamburger/ice cream stand just north of Mount Pocono on 611 that we used to stop at. I can see where the building is still there but it's something else now, probably vacant. Also though I remember there was something a little further north across from the airport, I can still see remnants of the parking lot with the lamp posts still there but the building is gone. Does anybody know what used to be there? Was that a store of some kind that was torn down years ago? Just curious because I can remember vaguely some big building with a large parking lot being there.

The ice cream shop if it was white is still there. It has a movie theater now, mini golf and a few arcade games. It reminds me of an old days soda shop. If this is the same place we are talking about see the link if it brings back memories. Casino Theatre Village Malt Shoppe

I think I know which ice cream stand you are referring too but that's not the one I was referring to in my post. This one was a little north of Mount Pocono. It appears to have been paneled over with exterior plywood siding and painted blue. If you don't look closely at it you wouldn't know it was an ice cream stand now but if you look for it you can still see the outline of the roof that gives it away.

I grew up (I was a teenager/young adult) in that time frame. But I don't remember north of Mt Pocono. I usually traveled south to Stroudsburg (that is where my wife-to-be was located).

We did enjoy High Point Inn that was located where PNC's bank currently sits in Mt. Pocono. It had a lively bar that catered to a young crowd. We even watched it burn down - it was a huge fire with flames shooting one hundred feet into the air.
