My husband and I are looking at property there, going back again this weekend. It's rural, which is fine, but just wondering if anyone knows anyone there, and how friendly the people are? We'll be moving from NY. I've wanted to live in PA all my life, and looking forward to finally doing it. We are in our early 50's. My husband will be retired by the time we move, but I plan to continue being an RN. Already sent the state my information. Wayne Hospital is close by. Does anyone know of employment opportunities for an RN? Many thanks for any information.

Wrong side of the state for us... you might do better on the Philly board.

That made me smile when I looked the town up on a map. It is just across a river from NY!

Maybe this will help...
Equinunk, Pennsylvania - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

1200 people is awfully tiny!
"The village is served by a United States Postal Office branch (zip code 18417), Hunt's General Store, an independent retail establishment, a traditional Methodist church (where one can hear one of the most beautiful renditions of the Greensleeves version of 'Oh, Holy Night' at the famous Christmas service) and a local bar. Wendy's Village Barn Restaurant recently closed its doors in 2011 but it remains to be seen who will take over the hole left by this business' absence."

Yes, to you it might seem like a small move, but trust me, it's a big difference! We live on Long Island and it's just getting too overcrowded and over "everything". Traffic, taxes, etc. Thanks for your response.

This should be in the NEPA forum. Hard to get more northeast than Equinunk.
