I really like the wayne county, aprox. 10 miles north of honesdale area. I've contacted a realter and have begun looking. Initially, we thought about buying the property first and then building, but now thinking otherwise.
There are plenty of homes on the market, buying an already existing house might be smarter.
Any particular issues with living in this area? Were retired, and don't have to worry about a commute.

It's a nice area. The only concern is what will happen in the future with fracking. Currently the Delaware River Basin Commission has a moratorium on same in most of Wayne County, but that could change.

That's spooky!
It's a big financial risk.

I don't believe they are Sarge, I heard there is some sort of moritorium on fracking in wayne county. I could be wrong though! I'd appreciate other inputs on this.

After looking at some Wayne County real estate offerings, I'm a bit surprised how expensive it is. Especially land. I'm comparing prices to Sussex County NJ. Trying to find just the right parcel bordering State land is tough.

Yeah, it's a nice area! (Just don't drink the water; and you'll be fine.)
