I have made seven trips to the Poconos area this summer in order to familiarize myself with the region. The Poconos is only a two hour drive from where I live so I can make frequent day trips without spending a lot of money. I would like to move to the Poconos to be closer to New York City.

I visited Milford and saw the Milford Community House but I cannot figure out what the building is currently being used for. Apparently it used to be the Pike County Public Library and it may house a visitor's center now. Google isn't revealing anything.

I might go on a road trip along Route 6 to visit a few more sites in Honesdale, Hawley, and Milford. Will that be well out of the manhunt area?

As far as we know; the manhunt is all down in Barrett Township. That is in northeastern Monroe County. Unless things change; it should not affect any travel on Route 6 - that is a beautiful area; great fall ride. Our foliage is just starting to change - so you should have something to look forward to.

Today I went on a long trip along Route 6. I did not see any evidence of the manhunt. The fall foliage was gorgeous and appeared to be further along than it is in north central PA. I visited Honesdale, the Zane Grey Museum, and Milford. I tried to spend more time in Milford. I had dinner at Apple Valley Family Restaurant. The food was good but the portions were too large. I only ordered an appetizer and a dessert and could not finish the dessert. I bought some cheesecake at Fretta's Italian Food Specialties and visited the Pike County Historical Society (aka The Columns). More importantly, I took lots of photos, bought copies of the local newspapers, and gained experience navigating the roads.
