I never understood why both Arby's on Rt.6 went under. The one you mentioned in Eynon and also the one in Dickson City where the Viewmont Diner is now. I always liked Arby's once in awhile, so I'm glad we still have one here in Scranton by Redners.

Yeah I like Arby's too. Nothing beats a good roast beef with Arby's sauce and some curly fries once in a while. For a little while, while the one by Redner's was closed, I was on Arby's withdrawal. I was thrilled when they opened it back up.
The one in Eynon probably closed since that part of Rt 6...in Eynon....really died down after Sugerman's closed. That used to be booming up there....when Rt 6 in Dickson City wasn't really built up, Sugerman's or "up de Eynon" was the place to go (or "Eynon Drug" as a lot of the older generation in the Mid-Valley called it).

That makes sense. I used to work for Sugerman's in the mid 90's and it was a booming area. Not so much now with the flea market, but there is still a lot of traffic that goes through that area.

Sonic is Coming!
It has now been confirmed that Sonic has been intensively scouring NEPA to potentially open several new locations.
Sonic Chain Scouts Northeast PA Locations
According to this article from last week, the chain is looking to locate in "power centers" that have convenient access to major highways in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Stroudsburg areas. My guess would be that the upcoming Pittston Crossings along Highway 315 would be a location, as would potentially Montage Mountain, Dickson City, Wilkes-Barre Township, and the area near the rapidly-expanding Mohegan Sun Casino.
Is anyone else as thrilled as I am to hear this? Perhaps their scouts ARE paying attention to we here on City-Data?!

I'm excited Paul. I hear Sonic is a cool place to eat. A good alternative to Burger King and McDonald's.

I like Sonic, they have them down here. Decent burgers and Coney's. The thing they do right is the drinks. they have like 2 dozen different drinks to choose from. Ands its an old school drive up and eat place.

I'd have to go with In And Out for that award. Though this newer place down in the DC area called Elevation Burger is a close runner-up.

Oh wow. I forgot about this place. Trader Joe's would likely do very well in the S/W-B area though, given their penchant for quality food at reasonable prices.

You made my day! The only Sonic I have been to was in a Walmart in Orlando. If the food was good there, I can imgaine how great it is w/ the full drive in experience!
