I have asked a reputable realtor about Section in the Lake Region and this is the answer I got.

There was "talk" and its only "talk" right now about somewhere in Lake Ariel...off of Eishenhauer Rd of someone possible putting up townhomes for section 8. Not really near Lake Wallenpaupack. There are some housing units in Hawley, but it is up to the landlord/owner whether they will accept section 8. I have found someone on section 8 a rental in Masthope a few years ago.

Poor people need a place to live too. Sticking them in sewer hole projects in the city isn't the best answer. That being said, section 8 housing needs to be well managed so it dosen't turn into a drug dealing haven as most are.

They are always welcome on the 300 block of Jackson Street in Olyphant.......commonly referred to as the "Bronx" section of Jackson Street, it is chock full of old Hudson Coal Co. duplexes rehabbed and now housing section 8's.

If it's called "the bronx", that's saying a lot ...and it's not positive either. Why do people who are already struggling have to put up with the added crap? Someone smart should figure out an answer for that problem. Those groupings of section 8 houses are what's bad, put section 8 houses/apartments in between higher priced units maybe. But then other property owners will probably complain that the value of their place will go down?
Not all poorer folks are druggies or lowlifes. Most have to work those minimum wage jobs that others(better educated or luckier) don't want. Being on Section 8 and foodstamps can happen to anyone.

HopBottom..the Bronx section of Jackson Street? You mean they are selling $750,000 condos, renting $2,000 loft apts, and revitalizing the entire district? Please provide more details about the area....if it is really the Bronx of the area...it is a place I would like to keep an eye on. Thanks for the info.

Correction to my above post...those prices are just for the South Bronx area...and not representative of the Bronx overall.

I have a question, I was under the belief that back in NY (maybe just my county) if you were convicted of a felony (possibly only drug related) you were ineligible for housing assistance. Does anyone know if that is true here in PA. ; and if not maybe this could be brought to the politcos as a true way to help and protect the deserving poor.
