Hello,

I am lining my ducks up!! Wondering if anyone could give me the name of a good alarm installer - along with reasonable service (price-wise) in the Tafton area. Thanks in advance.

Your best bets would be Vector in Hamlin, or First Alarm in Honesdale. My hubby has been in the alarm business for many years, but he doesn't do residential anymore. Stay away from ADT.

Thanks ADT, we heard not so good things about. Thanks for the insight on the alarm companies.

I have heard that Hillman Security is good. They are out of Luzerne but do travel quite far.

Ashley, thanks but Hillman is probably too far and then they charge for the commute.

Greentown, I appreciate the help. Was just wondering if hubby wasn't in the business who would you use?

Thanks,

The Hat

We would probably use Vector. They do alot of security patrols in the communities around here also. There is another company, Triguard Security, that is also good, but the last I know they were near Avoca, so they are getting further away.

make sure you get interior protection as well as exterior. usually the alarm pkges give you very basic exterior protection and next to no interior.

a nice feature i added is a strobe outside the house that latches in and stays on until reset even though the alarm may have rest after a ring off. this way i know when coming home right away there was a ring off

Hi Math,

Thanks for the suggestion. We have an interior protection of just fire/smoke now - but I think I would upgrade on the interior now.

The strobe attracts attention until it is reset?

yes the strobe lets you know that someone could potentially still be inside.

here in nyc we use quite extensive alarm products. interior protection is important because bad guys can break a window, let the alarm go off and wait until it resets and shunts out the broken window. after the police check it out they are free to enter with no further ring offs. a few motion detectors inside will cover most areas
