Actress Lizabeth Scott who was born and grew up in Scranton and attended Marywood College died on January 31st.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/07/mo...t-92.html?_r=0

I believe that the passing of Scott leaves only movie and Broadway actor, James Karen of Wilkes-Barre, still living (at 91).

There were quite a few well known actors at one time from NEPA including Eddie Adams, Nick Adams, Jack Palance, Jason Miller and Jerry Orbach (who lived in Nanticoke for a time). Joseph L. Mankiewicz the famous screen writer, director and producer was also born in NEPA (Wilkes-Barre). Can anyone add to the list?

I have family in NEPA, so whenever I hear W-B/Scranton in the news, it perks up my ears. Found this list of 100 on imdb...
IMDb: Most Popular People Born In "Scranton/ Pennsylvania/ USA"

Of course, it doesn't include all of NEPA births, just Scranton, it appears.

Lots of Philly-born celebs over the many decades... 6,585 listed on imbd:
IMDb: Most Popular People Born In "Pennsylvania/ USA"

Since Jayne Mansfield lived in H'wood for so many years, it's interesting that she was buried in PA. I'd have bet $50 that she was buried in L.A.

Handsome actor Aldo Ray (born Aldo Da Re) was also from Pen Argyl.

Not originally from the area, but Bronson Pinchot now lives in Harford, Susquehanna County as featured on WNEP news a few years ago.

Not an actor, but musician GE Smith is from Stroudsburg. He was musical director of Saturday Night Live in the 70's and 80's and was married to Gilda Radner for a time. Saw him on the SNL 40th anniversary special.

I've heard that Bronson isn't very well liked in Harford. He had a show on the DIY network (not sure if it is still on) where he would restore the buildings he bought around town. He seemed to like to make his local helpers look like morons.

Krysten Ritter, who was Jesse's girlfriend on Breaking Bad and was on the short-lived ABC sitcom Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23, was born in Bloomsburg and went to Northwest Area HS near Shickshinny.

Stephanie Micucci, who has had roles on Scrubs, The Big Bang Theory, and Raising Hope, went to Keystone College.

Tommy Dorsey and his family lived in Lansdale (Carbon County) for a while. There is actually a historical marker outside their family home.

Her husband was killed in the same car accident that took her life. It was obviously her family who made the arrangements.
