Do any trains go from around the carbondale area down near the langhone/levittown/morrisville/trenton area?
I tried to look at some schedules but they all look greek to me!

My pal Donna is correct. I'd LOVE to be able to hop a train from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area to both Philadelphia and NYC, but such options are not available (yet). Passenger rail service from Scranton to Hoboken, NJ (across the Hudson River from Manhattan) has been promised for many decades now. Since Federal funding has now become available, I'd guess we'll be seeing the train in operation perhaps around 2015.

It does not take 3 hours to get to Morristown not even in bad traffic. 380 to 80 to exit 28 then 10 to morrisplains turn right at shopright and your in downtown morristown in less than 1 1/2 hours on a bad day. I dated a girl for years that lived in Morristown and made that drive 3 to 4 times a week and would even commute to Prudential here from there 3 days a week.

Well, I'm not sure where you guys are, but the only train that runs through Carbondale, IL goes from Chicago to New Orleans. It runs at least twice a day. If you could get a train from where you are to Chicago then transfer, that's your best bet.

Actually we're talking about the Carbondale that is northeast of Scranton, PA, not the one that is north of Cairo, IL. Sorry for the confusion.

Isn't it funny we have Steamtown in Scranton and the Stourbridge Lion in Honesdale but not rail service? The mother of a friend from college (we went to Bloomsburg) from Philadelphia asked her where the train station was in town. She had to tell her the only public transportation was Greyhound. I love taking the train when I'm in Philly. And wow, how that would save $ insteading of spending $ on gas.
