Has it been confirmed that Tinks is actually going out of business, or are they simply remodeling? In either case, Tinks was not suffering financially in any apparent way. The fact that it's so crowded is probably one of the underlying reasons for the remodel, if that's what's taking place.

Dan's is the type of knee-jerk, speak before you have all the facts but still blame the administration for everything bad, the sky is falling, cry wolf, it's everyone elses fault but mine mentality that's so pervasive in these internet forums.

Now, lets see if he answers for himself or not, since he's the one who used the question to go off on his predictable anti-administration rant, indicating that he held them responsible for the "closing." What is he using to back that opinion up?

I think he's embarassed because there isn't ANY indication AT ALL that any of this had anything to do with the City and how it's run...

And he should be. His act is getting old, too.

Smile Tinks Closed?

To answer your question.....YES Tink's has closed but that does NOT mean that the downtown is in trouble by no means. Right now as we speak you have The Colosseum opening up on Adams ave (next to the Hilton). Tink's survived 30 years and let me just say that any bar/club that can make it 30 years well Kudos to you seeing the lifeline for a average club is 3-5 years. John Heil is NOT making it in to a "better club" & Tink's didn't close because it was "too getho" it closed because of finances and if you honestly think that it is going to be a "upscale club" you seriously have another thing comming but I have to admit, that made me chuckle!

Seriously on your first post you come here and try to tell me or us that the downtown is not in any trouble "by any means". I wish you luck, but I would rather see something that can provide family sustaining jobs and not just more waitress and bartending jobs. With all of the closings and business's moving out of the city, I guess we really could use another bar or club. Its a great location, good luck.

Default Tinks Is Closed

Yes Tinks is closed! However those of you who want to blame the Mayor and everyone else, the real deal is that it has been run to the ground! by it's current owner. you can see the deplorable conditions of the bathrooms and the rest of the place. Word has it that the current management, isn't exactly reliable when it comes to paying the bills. tinks has been there for 30 years because it was always well run by different owners, however the people who own it now have no idea how to re-invest their money and make it work. it has nothing to do with anyone other than Mr. H--- himself

Was Tink's there for 20 or 30 years? Larry Tinkelman owned two sewing factories, one behind Tink's and one on N.Wash. Ave above the newspaper. Well it used to be a newspaper there when Scranton still had two papers... I thought he started Tink's in the late 80's. Correct me if I'm wrong..
