Heading to Mount Pocono area tomorrow morning and concerned about traffic from the Indy car race. How bad does Route 80 get backed up? Is it worth taking Route 84 instead? I know the Nascar races get packed, but unsure of indy races.

You never stated where you are traveling from or where you are going to? You mentioned Route 84; does that mean you are coming to us from the New England states? We just did not have enough information to give you advice.

Many times your timing is everything. Once the race starts all the fans are seated; they are not on the highway. The key times to avoid are right before the race and right after the race. When I drove truck the news would warn us to stay off the roads because it was going to be a heavily traveled holiday weekend. I never had problems on those heavy days; I spent most of my time on our roads on off-peak times (nights and early morning hours).

PS Hope you had a good trip; even without advice.
