I think the Times follows the same tennants of journalism as any of its competitors or larger publications. There is every chance in the world for all half truths and lies to be pointed out and corrected if necessary. You can also choose not to read the paper but it seems like the people who bash it the most are the ones quoting it and buying it most!

Alot of people say Stacy Brown is biased toward the admin. If you ask anyone in Journalism who knows him they will tell you how ethical, bright and well rounded of a journalist he really is. People in certain groups want to read things in their favor. I think Dan has his feelings about certain issues, the paper doesn't necessarliy agree and he does not like it. Fine, dont reat the Times. You wont contribute to the paper and your message will be sent.

I am in not an employee of the paper either, just to clear that up.

No your not but you do come from a Scranton/state political family that supports the mayor. I don't buy the paper and I never have. Whom have you spoken to outside the city of Scranton about Stacey Brown? Didn't he have plagiarism problems (http://www.santamariatimes.com/articles/2005/09/09/news/local/news02.txt - broken link)out in CA? He went from the big time to the Times, sounds just creditable to me....

But they're creditable enough to use as a source (i.e. copy/paste word for word to defend a position you're taking), though?

I don't know the guy...he may be a good guy or whatever, but you have to wonder where he screwed up in his career to go from the LA Times and MSNBC to covering local politics for a backwater rag in Scranton, PA.

One reference you can look at is NEPAMEDIA blog. The folks that visit that site will blast any and all people who are topics of convo., They hold nothing back. When Stacy was brought up he recieved almost all positive praise. The people who typically comment on that site are thouse in NEPA media outlets. I do not know him well, nor will I speak for him but the people (inside of Scranton) that I have heard speak about him have nothing but good things to say.

In regards to why he is here; I can't speak for him. I have heard him say more than once that he likes the quite, no traffic, frinedly atmosphere for his children. I believe he is working on a book also while he is here. I would wager that his publisher is in NY. He was scouted by TT and offered a cushy position covering small town politics, benefits for his wife and kids, affordable living and location close to his publisher. (all my own speculation) But just a guess. I would not say he screwed up somewhere along the line and ended up in Scranton.

Of course its a local media blog why not ask someone at MSNBC or out in CA. New book I wonder if this is factual and accurate?

Could this be the new book (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,251393,00.html - broken link)that you speak of?

That's a subject that will sell a lot of copies, even if you wrote it, Dan. The movie rights alone should put Junior through college. What's the beef, Mr. Mayor? Guy's just earning a living...

Thats not the book i was talking about. Dan, he is an easy man to get a hold of. Why dont you talk with him about his methodologies while you are at a council meeting. He goes to them almost every week.

One of the biggest insults in my mind is telling someone they suck at what they do. Especially if you don't know the person or know their job role and functionalities. Untill you have walked a mile in their shoes you don't really know.

I've told him to his face that I don't like him or what he does. Thats nothing new. I have probably talked to him more then you have about many things going back a few years.
