TERMINOLOGY is on a distinguished road
I recently saw a TV commercial for a rail road that advised that they moved 1 ton of freight 400 miles at the cost of 1 gallon of fuel. Do the math, that's pretty efficient compared to auto.

Default Scranton to hoboken Train Service

I came across this on a NJ CD thread. Have many of you read this?

Plans move forward to revive Lackawanna Cutoff rail line - Breaking News From New Jersey - NJ.com

ScranBarre's wish might come true - eventually. I wonder if there was anything in the Scranton or Pocono papers on this article. If it came to pass, those old houses in Scranton might be going up in value bigtime!

It's been talked about for a long time, probably won't see it happen for a longer time still, unless the US govt starts making more federal monies available for rail projects. The main problem is that there is a ton of red tape involved in a project like this.

How true! I included the link because as much as people talk about it, very little is written about it. I think just seeing it in print is helpful. With rising gas prices, train service makes even more sense. If enough people screamed loud enough, maybe the powers that be would get off their collective rumps and actually do something. I realize that for many posters, rail service might be seen to be a doubled-edged sword bringing in the crime as well as the wealth. But a few thousand Wall Street folks with their $250,000 bonuses might well tip that crime/wealth ratio a bit! That might change the mindset of the Debbie Downers somewhat!
