Thanks so much for the info everyone! With the Lenten season quickly approaching, perogies are on our menu a lot! Thanks so much I Love PA, for you finding the web address of Novack's - we will definitely make a trip and try them out!

I know that the linked parishes of St's Juliana and James (in Rock Lake and Pleasant Mount, respectively) have a "Pierogi Project" during Lent. The prices are reasonable and, of course, the money goes to a good place.
This is for anyone in Wayne County, of course.

I'm in Wayne County, but have never heard of Rock Lake, where is it? Northern Wayne County?
Cathyde... Novacks is a bar, my daughter tells me they draw a big bar crowd so it's best to go at lunchtime for dining. I haven't been there either, but love Polish food!
What I'd also like to find...good stuffed cabbage. My family cooks it with sauerkraut between the layers of the rolls, you don't even taste the sauerkraut, but it definitely adds a good flavor. I'm just gonna have to get my Dad to make them!

I actually couldn't explain where in Wayne Rock Lake/St. Juliana's is, but if you know where St. James (in Pleasant Mount) is, I can give you directions from there.
From the St. James parking lot, make a left onto 357, and go down that road until the stop sign at the very end (a T-intersection). Make a left, and several miles later, voila! St. Juliana's will be on your right. Very unspecific directions, I know, but they work!
But St. James in Pleasant Mount is, I believe, the more active parish of the two, and they sell very good homemade pierogies during the entire Lenten season. The ladies of the town are up with the dawn working their magic in the church kitchen.

I don't know where Pleasant Mount is either...
Far from Honesdale? ...I'm in Lake Ariel.

Pleasant Mount is about 15 miles from downtown Honesdale...but it's a very pretty drive!

Think I mentioned it before, but Barrett's Pub on main street in Archbald has really good ones.

Yum, sounds delicious! Where did you get it? Is it kind of like the Polish version of Fastnachts?

I guess. I've never had a fastnacht, either. They're the ones made with potato flakes, right?
I'm not sure where it came from, but they were huge, and heavy!
