OK! Calling all pierogi fans! Who knows where you can get homemade pierogis? Not just restaurants, but church sales during lent too!
I bought home made pierogis in a Polish Deli in Hawley a few weeks ago that were very good. They have then frozen to take home, and all kinds of flavors, potato and american, just potato, potato and cheddar, farmers cheese, potato and farmers cheese, prune, sauerkraut and even blueberry and strawberry!
I'm feeling a pierogi 'phase' coming on!

Years ago there was a place called Tirpaks over in Eynon. They had a good fish plate, and excellent pirogies.

Theirs a place on Blvd ave in DC called Bakers? (a pub), that is supposed to have great homemade pirogies. Have not personally had them, but I do plan to visit.

I purchase pierogi and kielbasi from Elizabeth in hawley. This is a welcome addition to the area. This is a little piece of the old polish neighborhoods of NJ finding a home in Pa.

Have to tell hubby about the place in Hawley for when MIL isn't around. MIL makes her own and I know he misses them. She only makes them once or twice a year that I'm aware of.

Any idea of prices?

McMullens in Green Ridge has good Pirogies. They sauté them in butter and onions. Don't know if the true Polish would like, but not being Polish, that's as close as I get.

Oh...the recipe...I have my Dad who is 82 who does make a mean pierogi... It is so much work though, especially if you are making for a large bunch! We once had a mini pierogi factory in his house, my Mom, Dad, a few of his sisters, and a few friends...it was fun till everyone took a share home!!
Elizabeths in Hawley...they were about $5.00 a dozen, kinda expensive, but when you consider the work, it is not really that bad.
mom and Pops...I think I drove past it once, it's kinda far from me...
anyone else??

The price of the polish food at elizabeths is a little higher than I paid back home in NJ but with the price of gas it is the better deal. The hot case makes for some fast meals and not a mess in the kitchen, I have been there many times and will go back.
