Bus from NYC to Wilkes Barre????
My brother and I want to visit our gramma during easter break. Our flight ends at the JFK airport but we have to get from there to Wilkes Barre! My grandma told me about a bus which stops there but she doesn't know how it works! Can anyone help me please? We will stay there for 2 weeks and after that we want to go back to the JFK airport! Does anyone know how that works and how much it coasts? Please help me, Felix.

The Martz Trailways buses run from Port Authority in Manhattan (8th Avenue and 40-42nd Street); I imagine that the JFK website will have a link for ground transporation to Manhattan, either shuttle buses or the rail link that goes around the airport, to Jamaica Station in Queens where you can get either a subway or a Long Island Railroad train westbound into Penn Station in Mmanhattan---34th Street and 7th Avenue. A taxi from JFK is easy to hail but could cost a fair amount......
JFK Airport
go to the above website...check out the links to 'AirTrain', "Bus" and 'shuttles' ; you'll find several options. In the "Bus" link, there's reference to a bus that goes from JFK directly to Port Authority Bus Terminal---it looks like it's under $20 per person. Good luck and don't worry, people will help you along and there are information booths around.....

Here's another thought: if you haven't made air reservations yet, see whatyou can get from your city to Philadelphia (PHL) instead of JFK.There's a train directly from the PHL airport to Center City not far from the bus terminal, where you board a MARTZ TRAILWAYS bus to Wilkes-Barre or Scranton.........
If you can get an acceptable flight price, this would be somewhat less complicated and a bit nearer Northeastern PA than JFK......

PHL isn't that much closer to Wilkes-Barre than JFK.

Its a much easier trip out of Philly. And, checking google maps, from JFK to W-B is 147 miles, from PHL to W-B is 112 miles.

...and that extra 35 miles can set you back up to one additional hour in NYC traffic...... or much more than one hour in heavy traffic e.g. rush hour....be best to take the AirTrain to Manhattan I suppose? dunno since I never have.....

The Martz Trailways bus options are much more limited between Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre than between New York and Wilkes-Barre.

I wonder if Felix will be back to read his answers.
So many first time posters never return.
Cal me an old crab... but I have decided to hold my posts till ( is till a word???) I see that the person is actually returning to read them.
