Montrose is a bit of a haul from Dallas, but believe me when I tell you that it is NEPA's version of the quintissential Vermont village. The people up there are very friendly, the homes are well-kept, and mom-and-pop stores are thriving. The short main drag through town leads up a small hill to a "T" intersection with the county courthouse and a town green with a gazebo nearby. You're in for a real treat if you decide to go. To get there, you can either take 309 to I-81 Northbound past Scranton on up the New Milford exit, where you'll head west to town, or you can take Routes 309 and 29 north to Tunkhannock and continue north on 29 all the way to Montrose (scenic route for sure).

My friend bought the old ridge house bed&breakfast about 3 years ago and fixed it up. He is just using it as a home,He is on the commitee for the chocolate festival because he has a store in town. I believe 10 wineries will be there and other festivities will be going on on the green.

Thank you!! I am going to save this post. May 14th is my birthday, so the weekend of this festival will be the weekend I'll be celebrating the big 3-0 (yikes!), so I have already informed my husband that this is what I want to do for my birthday...chocolate and wine...how can you go wrong?

Well if we bump into one another up there, I owe you a bottle of wine to help celebrate the big occasion! I just turned 21 myself, so I'm still exploring my viticultural options. I'm not quite a "wine-o" yet though.

Ahh, to be 21 again. :::seething with jealousy:::: As for being a wine-o, give it time!! I recently switched from white to red, and opened up a whole new world. I'm in danger of becoming a wine-o real quick (especially with house stress..lol)
