Hi Ralmoy, I recently retired and moved from Staten Island NY, Have a home in Clarks Summit,PA, It is a safe place to live, school district abington heights is great, a good family community with alot of friendly people. The home prices are resonable 170's to 300's could get you something nice, taxes,2k to 4k, lots of nice restaurants, we just had the festival of ice(check out the photo shoot I did on this site. Like anywhere you go, there are good and bad areas, I don't know what areas you mean, but when I came here I did massive amounts of research and investigations into the area( retired law enforcement) I wanted to make sure it was a safe area, it is also an upscale type of area, very nice.Do your research and homework before making a move and if you have any questions feel free to ask.

Ralmoy.......Yes, Clarks Summit is nice that is for sure.
Please go to our search area on City Data and put in Indian Mt. Lakes......
I remember someone mentioning once about a water problem. Seems the water table is high there. If not.....be sure to have your inspector look in the crawl space, and check for water.
There is a dues there.......and a HOA. Be sure you can live with the rules.
I personally got so tired of all the rules with my HOA I had.
Your children might feel a bit isolated in that location. It is off the beaten track.
Just google and use this search also......
Pleasant Valley Schools are also good. Then you are closer to other hubs for the kids.
Movies at Regal, shopping etc.

I moved away several years ago, but even then Indian Mountain Lakes was over-run with NY'ers...not necessarily a bad thing, I'm originally from NJ...but the ones that are in Indian Mountain Lakes are the disrespectful, loud, obnoxious kind. I truly mean no offense to anyone, I have lots of family in NY - but my point is....there are many MUCH nicer communities in the area that would be better suited to the safety, peace, and well being of your kids. Focus on Bear Creek Lake for starters.

When we were looking for our home, we were told to stay away from Monroe County. We looked in Pike, Wayne, Susquehanna, Lackawanna, Bradford and Wyoming Counties.
We ended up in Wyoming County because we had a better choice of properties and the homes were a better value. The taxes are fairly low. We are in Tunkhannock and absolutely love it here. The kids all seem nice and the schools are good. The town has the stores that you may need in a pinch. It's quiet and safe here and the views all over the county are spectacular. We have about 3 acres of property and paid under $200,000 for our home which was a much better buy that what we were seeing in Wayne and Pike Counties. We aren't far from Clark's Summit or Dickson City where just about everybody in NEPA goes to shop. We are about 3 hours to NY and 2 1/2 hours to Philly.
You really need to do your homework before buying. Monroe County is crowded. I don't care where the people came from, there are good and bad from everywhere. It's just over populated there and it wasn't what we wanted.
Hope this helps.
