I was at the U all day. From 7am-6pm. Great day of drinking.

Want to hear the reality of "parade day?" Get yourself a police scanner. The calls are nonstop. Constant brawls, assaults, drunk drivers, public drunkenness, hit and runs, etc. Won't read about that in the Times.

That's what I pretty much expected.

Drinking at 7 A.M.???? Take some good advice and call A.A. tomorrow....

I like beer, but I can't stomach the thought of drinking at that hour...

I don't know about this year but the bars opened late last year--9am.

I start early if I have a drink at 7 at night.

I'm of Irish descent, and nothing irks me more than "green beer." Trust me, nobody in Ireland is drinking green-tinted Coors Light. Get yourself a Guinness, Smithwick's, Murphy's....something that's Irish and actually real beer.

I think all this crap on parade day is an insult to my heritage....the crappy green beer, the shirts with stupid sayings like "F%$#@ me, I'm Irish", the green beads, the bars that open at 7 a.m. with local cover bands playing instead of Irish bands, the fights, etc....this day really is a joke. The parade itself is great, but gets ruined by all of the other mockery and people who go for no other reason than to get loaded. And even if I wanted to just go to bar, sit back, relax and have a couple of pints of Guinness, I can't, since the bars are all packed to the gills with drunken college kids (most of whom are not Irish) with those stupid green beads and plastic leprechaun hats drinking green Coors Light out of plastic cups. The bars clear their tables out just so they can pack people in like sardines.
