The funny thing is that most of the people downtown acting like fools on parade day probably aren't even Irish. And no real Irishman would drink crappy pee-beer like Coors Light with green food coloring in it. Crap beer like that is for people who drink for no other reason than to get drunk.
You just nailed down the definition of "amateur".

At home growing up, we always went to mass. It was always a bank holiday with no school. One would go to the local parade but the parade was always full of floats ; kind of like the Thanksgiving Day parade here in NY.

Then we would have a big dinner. The bars would be closed and it was generally a family day.

Bud??? They must be convinced they're drinking some kind of fancy import. I'd rather drink the worst Irish beer than Bud anyday.

I'm excited to hear reviews of this year's parade. Last year was absolutely DELIGHTFUL, despite the nasty Hillary Clinton supporters practically pushing me to the ground to see the "Almighty Scranton native" herself! I'm working this Saturday or otherwise I'd be in attendance this year as well.

I'm not working and I won't be there. The parades are pretty much the same year to year.

The best part of Scranton's St. Patrick's Day parade is that I no longer work 3rd shift at the hotels and I don't have to put up with the amatuers at all hours bothering the other guests.

The Bud comment is wayy off in my opinion. I was in Dublin not too long ago and most of the folks are drinking Guinness. Boddingtons is popular and so is John Smiths. Very very rare to see someone drinking a bud...too expensive
