Default What is the average cost of a home in YOUR area?

I noticed that the New Jersey posters had done this thread and I thought it would be good for our areas too. Post some homes by your location, and what kind of prices they are getting..........
This home in Brodheadsville, Chestnuthill twsp is going for $324,999.......It has 5 bedrooms and lots of baths. Looks so nice and roomy, plus it is on almost 2 acres. It has been for sale for a long time however. Boy, I would love to be a stager for the home. I just love to do things like that.
So whats, what in your town or local area. I'm curious.........and I bet many
people are too.

Homes around where I live (Wayne Co, north of Honesdale) really run the gamut. There are always a handful of super-chic renovated farmhouses than fetch anywhere from 500K to a million or so, usually on 5-10 acres. Sometimes many more acres as there is abundant land here. A 5-10 acre property is the norm around here. I'd say an average 3 br/2ba ranch goes for 200K-250K depending on condition/amenities etc. There are also usually a few log homes to be had, and they are generally priced about 20-30K more than stick built.

MermanMike -- I can almost ditto your comments. The Lake Winola, Mill City, Falls area
is about the same. On the outskirts you can pick up a modular on an acre for $60,000.
On the lake we now have the new McMansions for a cool MIL !!!

NOrthern VA, 10-20 miles outside DC, probably in the high 300s these days. A frame of reference: 1800 SF, split level, on .2 acres, built in 1972 about 450K. A new 2500 SF colonial with brick, on .2 acres about 650+ depending on location.

Greater Pittston: We run the gamut from low-income public housing and run-down coal miners' homes in need of extensive renovations selling in the $50,000 range in the city proper of Pittston on up to a few million dollar mansions with a growing proportion of McMansions in the $300,000-$500,000 range in newer subdivisions.

My area, Ashley, is extremely cheap. That is because it is an old run down town. The average is about $60,000. I only paid $56 for mine and it is not as bad as most in the area but is also small. That included a 4 car garage and almost an acre of land.
