I was at the Woodlands back in 1998 while I was up here applying to Grad school at Marywood. My friend and I had a blast and danced the night away. It was nice back then...

Yes. I've always been envisioning a potluck picnic type of affair at a local park where we'd all bring along our families and one (or two) covered specialty dish(es) of your choice. For me I'd hit up Wegman's beforehand and just buy something yummy since my culinary products are probably about as decadent as Susquehanna River water, but my mother does make some pretty mean deviled eggs too!

I think I'll contact the Lackawanna County recreational board (which governs McDade Park) within the next few days and see if anything can be arranged as far as a shelter is concerned. Even if the park is already fully booked we could still just have a grand old time without a pavillion and just have a rain date handy just in case. I'll also see if the coal mine tour has any group rates available. That's something the new transplants to our area should really enjoy to get a good glimpse of just what made our region the economic powerhouse it once was as recently as the 1950s.

The pavilion will most defintely be booked. We have our kids birthday parties there and need to book the pavilion 6 months in advance.

I think I'll do the Macarena with Summering while Dan does the Chicken Dance with Judy Gatelli.

Oh well. I somewhat figured it would be booked, as I know Nay Aug is fully booked as well. There's still plenty of wide open space though for us to bring blankets, and there's picnic tables all over the place that some of the guys can bump together while the women put on the cheap (yet trendy) vinyl tablecloths.

McDade Park is plenty large (200 acres for that matter) to accomodate a group as large as ours, but for logistical purposes (i.e. how much food/beverages/plastic utensils, plates, cups, etc. we'll need) we'll need to pin down a date and then just do a head count online with how many people may come and how many guests they plan to bring. I'm hopeful this will be kept in the more easily manageable 30-50 or so range, but I can easily see that number rising nearer to 100 if all goes wrong! LOL!
