Thumbs up Let's Finally Get our Get-Together Off the Ground! (Official Thread!)

Good morning everyone,

Inspired by an invitation via DM and a new thread on the NJ forum in which their members are gathering in the New Hope, PA/Lambertville, NJ area for a meet-and-greet, I've decided it may be time to resurrect our plans. I know several of us have already met one another independently, but I'd imagine this event would likely attract a few dozen folks. I'm awaiting a promising job interview on April 22 with a Wilkes-Barre accounting firm, but pending a successful outcome I should have a more normal 8 AM-5 PM Monday-Friday type of schedule as opposed to the swing shifts and weekend shifts I pull now that have made this long-term planning impossible and will free up much more time.

Let's use this thread to toss around our ideas. I originally had my heart set on a potluck picnic lunch at a reserved gazebo in Scranton's Nay Aug Park, but I realize that with how dynamic the weather could be in NEPA an outdoor affair could be disappointing if we're faced with rain and the inability to switch our date due to the gazebo rental. I'm open for new ideas. Meeting at either South Side Lanes or Chacko's for bowling? Meeting at Ricketts Glen State Park for a beautiful hike? Meeting at a local restaurant? Movies? Local festival?

Let's brainstorm here!

I'm thinking that geographically speaking Lackawanna County may be the "fairest" place to host this, as this will put it within a 45-60-minute drive for most of us in Pike, Wayne, Susquehanna, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, and Wyoming Counties. I know we have other members I'd like to meet, such as Chad way out in Tioga County, Dawne and RJ MacReady down in Snyder County, AmeriKenArtist in Columbia County, etc., but I think the heavy bulk of us are either in Scranton or to the north or east.

I think you should decide on the spot, Paul. A restaurant can be hard to get a table for so many of us. The mall, a park??? Coartist and his wife and my husband and I went already to Twigs and to Amore' and had a great time. We can all figure this out eventually.

Bleh. Lambertville is where the NJ hook-up is going to be. I think we should do something different. Let's prove "there ain't no party like a Scranton party!"

LOL - saw your OP on the main page - the NJ gathering in NH has been cancelled, so rock on! LOL!

Actually, that would've been quite funny if both get-togethers were at the same place, same time...
