Shooting ranges near Dallas?
Well...I am spending my saturday finding ways to avoid doing homework...Im rather efficient at being inefficient Anyway, I have been told that I can go shooting in my backyard if I want too, but I am afraid that I might **** off the neighbors if I make a constant habit if it. Does anyone know of any shooting ranges that are not far from Dallas? Im not picky as long as it has something to shoot at and on one will get pissed off at the noise, thats all I need.

I'm not sure where Dallas is being fairly new to the area (after 1 yr) but hubby goes to a public outdoor range on Route 6. Coming from Shohola, it's a few miles out on the right. I don't even know what it is called, just that there is a brown sign that says something like "shooting range". He likes it there. It's free, there are, I think 3 areas to shoot...shotgun, rifle or whatever.
Hope this helps. Maybe there is something listed on the state website for public gamelands regarding shooting ranges???

It might be listed as Hawley. It's a few miles west of Shohola. I'll try to look it up on the state website and post the link. Hubby said the best time to go on the weekends is early am or late afternoon. Also, they are going to be closed soon for "deleading" ..not sure when or for how long. We'll find out tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

I hate to burst both of your bubbles, but Hawley and Dallas are both VERY far apart. With gas prices now over $3.50/gallon (thank you Exxon-Mobil!), it wouldn't be very practical for Mr. EnyaGirl's Husband to take such a long drive just to fire his gun in peace and tranquility. You're probably talking about nearly a 90-minute haul from Dallas to Hawley.

There is a state game land range down by wilkes barre somewhere but Hawley is the farthiest one from Dallas.
There is one in Archbald off of the Casey Highway exit 4 Salem rd. Turn right go up the hill about 7/10 of a mile its on the right.
There is also one in Gouldsboro off of 380 at the gouldsboro exit but I DO NOT RECCOMMEND this range. This range is not safe and barely patroled. There are many that drive from NJ to shot here and there are many that have full autos, everytime that I hace been there there have been at least 20different reasons to get the hell the hell out of there.
I only goto the range in Archbald now. Weekdays during the day and weekends early or at dinner time are the best times to go. The range has many regulars that shot several times a week and spend the whole day there on saturdays. The range is safe and clean and I help to maintain the backer boards for the targets out of pocket so that the range is always in good shape so that when I take my son shooting there are targets.
Its worth the drive if you spend the day. There is a shotgun, rifle50/100/200 yard and a pistol range.
Follow the rules at the state ranges, especially the rules in regards to your magazines. Pistol no more the 6 and the shotgun and rifle are 3 in the gun. The violation is $50 for every bullet over and $150 for breaking the rule.
Full 15 shot pistol mag will cost you $600. Be smart, be careful.

Thanks for that helpful post welovepa. I am near the Gouldsboro range. I haven't shot there yet, but I did drive by to see it. It is a bit remote and there were some folks there shooting at the time. I am interested in finding a gun club near Gouldsboro that shoots skeet and Sporting Clays. I am planning on visiting some local gun shops to see if they can recommend a club.

Well, fun is fun --- and to enjoy yourself -- 90 minutes is not that far
Factoryville Sportsmen Club has a wonderful range and lots of planned
activities.

My wife and I were thinking of the Factoryville Sportsman Club but I heard that you have to be sponsored by a member to join. I don't think that I know any members.
