Moving near Geisinger is on a distinguished road
Default Question about Northumberland

My boyfriend and I are looking to move into the area since he will be starting residency at Geisinger and I will be (hopefully) getting a job as a NICU nurse there. We found a house we really like on King Street in Northumberland. We just want to know if there are any reasons not to move into that area. We do not have any children so schools are not a problem at this time. Will it be possible to sell the place again in 5 years or so or is the neighborhood going downhill? Thanks for any advice!!

Laura

Northumberland (Norry) is nice. It was usually fairly quiet but still within reach of a lot of stuff to do. I highly recomend the island, across the bridge. The park is very nice to walk around & have picnics. I grew up in Danville.

As for selling the house, you probably won't have too much trouble selling it. Norry was always more sought after than Sunbury. It's hard to say with the economy the way it's going now.

Have you looked in other areas? I've always liked Riverside (but I'm biased having family there) and Bloomsburg. AmeriKen can give you some very good ideas about Bloom. Lewisburg can be nice too, but a little more of a commute.

Best of Luck!
