I think many people seem to like Clarks Summit in the North Poconos area of Pa.
I also think for more land and quietness, Brodheadsville, in the SW end of the Poconos is a good location. Just IMO.........but I am sure there are many other great locations.

Yes, many great locations, we would need to know more about your tastes though first I think...pretty much all of NEPA fits into your minimal crowds/low crime category...but don't worry...we all love to talk about where we live once you get us started

Seriously that's pretty much it,not crowded and low crime. Anything else I can adapt to. I was looking at Montana and that's the exteme so like I said I can adapt here;
From what I've observed of the area,I've seen like traffic jams on I-80 near places like Tannersville(the outlets of course).Plus my cousin lives now in Long Pond and I hear some stories about that area,mostly construction all the time and local politicing. My uncle also lives in Greentown and says there are alot of people from NYC coming there which is also bringing more problems as well.
As for the crime,I've heard and seen reports for various towns and it sounded kind of surprising the amount of crime for supposedly such a low concentration of people. Although in places like Montana it's said that alot of fugitives go there to escape so I can assume the Pocono mountains could be similar
